Clearly Peter Boyle is a Sunderland fan in cognito.

Gerrard by a mile for me.

Played in weaker teams and could tackle, pass, run, cross and score goals. He won countless games for Liverpool on his own and was the heartbeat of the club, whereas for me Lampard had it easier with the likes of Makalele, Terry and Essien sitting in behind him to do all of the defensive work.

Just goes to show how insanely stupid these personal rewards really are <laugh>

Let's be honest, what did they have to do to win the massive achievement of the mighty England PoTY? Not retire would be my guess <laugh>

Gerrard as big game player bit overrated

    2 goals in 36 games v Chelsea
And went 8 years without scoring in Prem v United.

If he was that good a big-game player he would have influenced those 50 matches as well as Olympiakos and west Ham

lamps also underrated big game player.

CL semi v Liverpool 2008 and dragged us back into final in Moscow.

Even Bloemfontein he tried to battle Germany on own when SG went missing, 'scoring' and hitting cross bar.

That's not to say Gerrard is not a very good player.

    Scholes better than both probably

Lampard for me, he was a team player where-as Gerrard always seemed to play for his own personal glory. It always pissed me off seeing his name in the England XI as I knew he'd waste the ball trying 60yd passes that ended up as opposition throw-ins or shoot from a tight angle 40yds out in the hope he'd be the hero. It would be interesting to see how many times each gave the ball away needlessly,

If Gerrard was in the Chelsea team then he would've won Premier Leagues/Champions League/multiple cups.

If Lampard was in the Liverpool team then we still wouldn't of won the Premier League, I don't think we would've won the Champions League and we would've won the odd cup.

Lampard ate his fruit and Gerrard slipped on his.

I suppose that makes Lampard better judging from some of the desperate reasons being given here.

But say Lampard started his career with ourselves. In 2005 he wouldn't of saved us against Olympiakos and if by some miracle we got through to the final against Milan we wouldn't have won it. Gerrards passion got us over the line as well as loads of luck.

Tbh if they did switch Gerrard would've dumped us out of the semis even if we did score the ghost goal :p
