He's confirmed that the Ayala deal is dead in the water, we have other targets, no details of who they are. Rosenior and Adebola are back in training today, but Mclean is still out. No news on Bullard and he's getting pissed off with being asked about it.
I've missed whats been goin on with ayala, can u enlighten me please? Last I heard a bid had been accepted
We did have a bid accepted, but then Swansea and Norwich came in for him and we can't compete against PL teams.
If Ayala goes to a new PL team isn't the most likely outcome him being on the bench most weeks and then the team getting relegated? I suppose if he get's a long contract on decent money that will be enough to persuade him though.
Its the same with 99% of the Johnny Foreigners over here. Yes it will be the contract But Lambert will play him if he performs. IF city miss out this is a massive Own Goal for the club.
I dont see why people always assume the promoted teams get relegated. The last time all 3 promoted teams went down the following season was 1997/98.
I think this season is the exception. Last year the Championship was incredibly poor (look at how well all the L1 promoted teams did, unheard of) Norwich have a team primarily of L1 players and have strengthened with mainly Championship players = not good enough for the premier.
Did we sign any 'proven Premier League players' when we were promoted? We had 4 - THATS FOUR - players in the PL who had played in bottom division for us and our big money signing was a Championship player from perennial sh1tbags Plymouth, yet we still stayed up.
Boateng, King and Geovanni should probably qualify. There was also Cousin, Zayatte, McShane, Mendy etc who were brought in for that campaign, no-one this season has signed anything like that many.
Yes we did Boateng, Barmby (played countless games in the prem) Hunt, Geovanni, Mendy played in the prem. As did McShane etc We stayed up by the skin of our teeth, and when needing a result, we couldn't get one, we had to rely on Villa beating Newcastle at Villa park to keep us up
Maybe, but at least he has the opportunity of playing in the PL and showing what he can do at the highest level - something we can't offer him. I fancy Norwich to stay up, I rate their manager very highly. Think QPR & Swansea will both struggle though.
Played in the Prem and being established Premier league players really arent the same thing. Come on, before playing for us Mendy, King and Geovanni could not be called anything like that - Mendy and Geo a handful of games, King half a season with Watford and hardly a touch at Wigan. Boateng obviously yes. And Barmby? He had already been with us for 3 years!! You might as well include Deano then.
