Yeah, I get that not everyone is enamoured by Les and co, but to my mind, these are the good times and i've seen plenty of mediocre ones in my Saints supporting days.
We have slipped a bit this season, but I still see a good squad with everybody fit. Letting Jose go and not replacing him was a BIG mistake and I don't know why that didn't happen and could cost us our second major trophy, but overall i'm satisfied that we will be ok this season and hopefully kick on next year.

Yes, I was wondering last week whether instead of trousering the huge profit by selling to the Chinese company, she would say to them "tell you what, I will simply take what we paid out and the rest you can spend on revamping/rebuilding the stadium" (couldn't spend it on players under the FFP rules)

    but then I woke up.

Indeed I have. If we win 2 of 3 (very possible) people will be more than happy. It's so hard to predict how it will go but those fixtures are decent.

And European Group Stage football and a Cup Final. Something was going to suffer this season regardless.

Goes back to the close season for me. We lost Koeman and I'm still convinced it was more down to a clash with Reed than it was Ron wanting a big pay day at Everton. I think Koeman probably shared my response to the news that Redmond was Reed's "number 1 transfer target". Think that set the scene for this season and although I'm still not sure about Puel, it doesn't feel like the club is particularly backing him strongly anyway.

    We are bad, very bad.

Bertrand didn't look keen, Romeu can't do it all alone, the centre backs give it away as much as poss.

We can't cross or shoot, defensively we are fragile and there were no leaders.
Selling Fonte was a stupid, stupid decision. Davis is a great player, but snaps at people rather than leading. We needed more composure after our goal, instead we got panic and then nothing much really.
    Worlds away from Anfield.

Selling Fonte wasn't a stupid idea, not getting in a replacement was. I didn't think we were very very bad, just usual mistakes creeping into our game again. Something needs to change, whether that is the manager, system or both.

Problem is our away form is poor, so I don't think we'll get anything better than a draw at Sunderland (not particularly looking forward to seeing defoe against our back four atm). Watford away will be tough. Man Utd at home, with Ibra upfront is pretty worrying and then it's Spurs away. I think we'll be lucky to get 2 points from those 4 games.

April is our make or break month with what should be 3 home wins against B'mouth, Palace and Hull. Hopefully Van Dijk is back by then otherwise we're in real trouble.

Which would be a shame, but not a disaster by any means.

But what would be, is costing us our place in the PL - whether this season, or next season. (Even if this current slide of ours doesn't take us down this season - and right now, I don't think it will - momentum, or lack of it, is very important for the following season. If you want to pick your favourites to go down, you first look at the promoted sides, and you second look at the sides who finished the previously season poorly. And we would still need to replace Fonte. And we'd be in a weaker position to sign better players. And we'd be in a weaker position to hold onto the likes of Virgil and Bertrand).

nope, back the team for starters. Today was like a poor away game AND WE WERE SOLD OUT. Puel will be good or us if given the resources.

In some ways it's better to have it that way around. Short term pain, yes. Increased worry, yes. But keeping the "easier" games in hand for when Virgil is hopefully back.

Yep I just hope our team morale doesn't drop off a cliff if we do lose the next couple of games. Last thing we want to do is give the teams lower than us even a glimmer of hope.

To be fair, it's also difficult protecting the worst keeper (when he's playing through injury) in the league.

There you go again with the gnashing of teeth. It is this sort of negativity which will see a cloud of gloom permanently gather above St Marys.

I think if any negativity is forming over St Marys then it's the style of football we're playing this season under Puel, not fans becoming concerned over recent results.
I do think booing the team is counterproductive though and will only make the situation worse.

Interesting point Channon. Both of those teams took action to turn their teams performance around. What action should we now take?

We haven't lost a few games we have lost six out of the last seven and we need to win five of the remaining fourteen to be confident of staying up. Six of those fourteen games are against top sides. So you could say we have to win five out of eight games against teams on a par with or below us. Don't hold your breath whatever you do, and please no more ****ing history, we are talking about NOW and the future and from my perspective it doesn't look very good..
