I think we should have expected this downturn. It is surprising that many people are surprised. Klopp had managed to get average players to get results against many top sides. Even from the early season we had been struggling against low sides but brilliant against sides who let us play. It is no coincidence we beat Arsenal, Chelsea, City. We have yet to be beaten by a top 6 sides and I won't be surprised that none of the top sides will beat us this season. Klopp alluded to a plan B during his interview. When Chelsea and Man United come to defend and let you have the ball for 60-70% you know other teams are going to copy their tactics. Passing the ball in front of their defence and having 70-80% possession is now a problem. Will Pochetino and Spurs abandon their open game to defend here? If they do that and get a result, our game is up.
wouldn't say our game was up as when it works it's brilliant to watch. I'm thinking it's more the attitude of some of the players are just thinking they don't need to put in a shift against the ones fighting below 7th. And as every team in this league knows that's Bollocks. Anyone can beat anyone and you need the same level of attitude and will from game 1 to game 38 regardless of who you are playing.
I'm not surprised by the downturn, I'm surprised by the size of said downturn. A single win against a League Two outfit in ten games, anyone remember a worse run?
If we go through the team Mignolet - an enigma but ultimately a liability at top level - no new news Cline - form seems to be in decline ! Little or nothing recently going forward on the right Lucas - just too slow in any position but a lovely guy / not good enough Matip - free agent - adequate and best of a bad bunch Milner - tireless worker press ganged into Lb to cover a massive weakness In Moreno - no new news Can - just not blossoming - needs to take a real look at himself Henderson - a Mile away from his last season form and poor captaincy Coutinho - looks lost since his return and his new contract - needs to step up Firmino - consistently inconsistent Mane - a real trier - congratulations to him Lallana - in and out - if it's not his day he's a total passenger - a confidence player This is my view of what I've been seeing in this desperate last 10 game run - I wonder how the manager feels about the team and more importantly the wholly inadequate bench ?? He really needs to bite the bullet and dial Fenway - in his own words - this performance is unacceptable - is he made of the stuff to turn this around ? I hope so - apologies for the invective but I'm driven to it
That was really Klopp overestimating the quality of our squad. If he had realised that 1. The match against Wolves was a must win because of the poor run and 2. His youngsters are not quite ready, then I am sure we would won that match and be still in the FA cup. And our poor run will not have been that poor. And the pressure would have been less. It was mostly self inflicted.
I think we'll see a difference in the next few games. Klopp clearly isn't happy in that video I just posted and now we have a week to prepare for games.
klopp's comment that there were not 20 players out there to improve this quad was ridiculous. the reality was we have had a good long look at most of those kids and "reserves" and I for one think none of them bar taa would get a regualr game at a championship team. the thing is we are no firmly staring down the barrel of 6th and some everton wags think they can catch us and all.... ergo klopp needs to change things. he has no more time to faff baout playing 433 doing the same things all the time. and firmino must go. he's not working hard enough and he's not a stiker. his record is actually poor even when we are flying.
I'm going to have to disagree. Whilst we all know your defence is weak and its definitely something to improve upon, defences just need solid players who work well as a unit. Also minger sounds like he dropped a clanger. Recently whats more worrying is your attack has gone to ****. You are hardly scoring any goals or creating the numerous decent chances you guys were creating before.
Same as always, No Plan B. How long has that been said about Liverpool? Too many teams figure us out quickly and combine that with this year fatigue (ridiculous IMO, ****ing professional footballers getting tired ) due to a very high energy style of football. All a team has to do now is score the first goal or hold out till we get desperate and theres a good chance they can win. The season is catching up with us and we don't have an answer to it. Something that could have been helped with fresh faces in the changing room. Also Plan B doesn't mean buying an Andy Carroll or Benteke, just a different style of play.
Whilst LFC didn't play well in the final 3rd (or at the back on the rare occasions you needed to) I think we are playing a lot better than people give us credit We could have got points from both the Chelsea and Man City games, we then draw at Old Trafford (narrowly missing a 1-0 from your lad Markovic) and beat you. Our boss looks the business at the moment Good luck for the rest of the season...
