First of all, hope we stick with 4 at the back - and actually not sure I would mind too much it being the 4 CBs again - Maybe Holebas in for Britos, but I would prefer to keep Janmaat in a more advanced role, and we are lacking another RB now we decided to have 4 Keepers in the squad over Dje Djedje, so keep Cathcart there - or play Kaboul there as he seems ok when going forward when out wide. I also hope we stick with the 4-1-4-1, with Behrami holding, Cleverley and Capoue being able to break forward and support, with Niang and Janmaat out wide again It will be typical of Watford to win at Arsenal and then drop points to a team who can't win away... but I'll go for a 3-1. Deeney, Capoue and Niang to get his first goal for us
That's bang-on for me. I feel more secure about Janmaat's offensive abilities than his defensive ones. Kaboul was far happier in his role. Was is my imagination or was Prodl more secure, too? It seemed like he was 6'5" again. We even won headers when defending set pieces - shock, horror! Cathcart did well in his not preferred position. Cleverley and Capoue seemed very much revived - I hope that wasn't a one-off.
All we want is the same team to play in the same way as they did Tuesday and get another win. The only trouble is that Burnley are not at all similar to Arsenal. A rugged defence and lovers of the long ball. We won on Tuesday in part because we pressed high and quickly. Burnley are likely to try the same tactics on us. I just hope that they do not turn around their 1 point from 10 away games record.
I'm sure we only have two keepers in the squad - Gomes and Pantilimon. The names Gilmartin and Arlauskis don't actually qualify for the title... Agree re the formation - we looked much more comfortable than with three at the back. And Behrami is a natural for that spot.
Unfortunately if Gomes gets injured in the next 4 weeks, one of them will have to try to act like one...
Arlouskis is now the deputy keeper again. He is an international keeper and not getting Krul in has wasted a foreign space in the squad. I remember when he came on for Gomes on a wet and windy day and he looked dodgy but we still got a result. Gomes must be the most subbed keeper of all time. Arlouskis will not be taken by surprise this time.
One of those stats calculation sites had it the most unlikely win of the season for any team...longer odds than Swansea winning at Anfield too.
Wow. Like I said on the Watford Arsenal thread, with the 352 formation I would agree. It's about 15 years since I laid a bet (50p on the National) but I haven't bet on a football match for 27 years and I think I'll keep it that way.
Watfordfc line-up v @BurnleyOfficial: Gomes (GK); Cathcart, Kaboul, Prödl, Holebas; Behrami; Niang, Cleverley, Capoue, Zarate; Deeney (c).
Mauro Zarate makes his Golden Boys debut in place of Daryl Janmaat. I wonder what we will make of this signing?
