If we were really concerned about the unnecessary deaths of innocent civilians in the US, we would be working on ways to deliver health care better, to increase vehicle safety and to decrease the number of shooting deaths. Clearly, those aren't our priorities. Anti-terror measures have the obvious advantage of being aimed at a popular scapegoat. Scapegoats are the most effective way of unifying a group. So IMO all of this is (probably, mostly) an exercise in group hating, and people will oppose it in direct relation to their strength of character.
He's not rebuilding the infrastructure. He's giving it away to big businesses. It's a tax break for his backers, so that they'll build stuff that they'd build anyway. The stuff that's not profitable and wasn't going to get done still won't get done.

A strange fact about the right wing in America is that it is violently pro-Israel, apparently due to a mixture of the enemy of my enemy thinking and the (**cuckoo clock sounds**) belief that the Rapture will only occur when the Jews have returned to Israel. Since they already are there, of course, it means Jesus will descend any time, and is probably just finishing his coffee.
They seem to somehow mix being pro-Israel with being anti-Jew, though. Not sure how that's even possible. As you suggest, it's part of the whole Christian Taliban thing that they've fallen in love with. Y'all Qaeda. The best example of this is probably Steve Bannon.
People throughout history, from all around the world, have needed groups to blame for all their ills. Nothing changes. It must be something about the human psyche. It's easier than taking responsibility yourself.
I wouldn't go that far, Lidls. People don't need groups to blame, but certain individuals use them in that manner. The Just-world hypothesis is a big part of why people buy into it, in my opinion. Everything's ****, but I'm a good person and I work hard. That shouldn't be, should it? There must be some additional reason why things aren't working out for me. That guy's saying that it's because of those evil (insert group here). Maybe he's right? It gets said often enough by enough different sources and it starts to sink in. The media have become terrible with it.
The greatest irony of the U.S is that a nation of immigrants, which has been a refuge for so many from all around the world, seems to hate everyone from outside its own shores. We Brits fare better than most, but who else do the Americans really have any time for?

But even if you don't accept it's ok to defend members of other communities and countries from oppressive policies, it's surely reasonable to react and protest those that impact on the UK. So...... 1. Travel embargo that targets UK nationals unfairly? TICK 2. Denial of Climate Change and the election of a Climate Change denier as head of the Environmental Protection Agency - with threats to abolish it altogether? TICK 3. Undermining the stability of the Eurasia region by cozying up to Russia & Putin? TICK And that's before we start on the effect that having a a mysoginist racist as President will have on boosting the strength of the Fascist right wing in the UK & across Europe..... TICK

One thing Trump has done for the good is that every single time he or his team concoct another toxic response to something that either did not warrant it or even exist before they responded to it, it sure clears out the non-stories that people try to blow out of all proportion to smear people. Case in point, how many of you are even aware that Jeremy Corbyn was caught in some synthetic outrage last night when he gave a speech where he said people should not be persecuted because they "chose" to be gay or lesbian? Anyone? That's because whatever short-term advantage that could be gleaned by pouncing on this by the Tories soon got obliterated by Trump doing something else which the media give so much coverage to, and as a result the government have to devote their energies to reacting to it to the point that the story was dead within a couple of hours.
I think he's talking about being actively gay or lesbian, rather than being forced to hide it and pretend you're not, to be fair to him. Stupid choice of words and I'm quite sick of him, to be honest, but I don't think this is something he should be slaughtered for.
