I went to Sheffield United a few times when City wasn't playing on a saturday back in the early 70s because it was fun on Shoreham Street. I never really bothered whether they won or lost and I never looked out for their results. I'd also been to Hillsborough, Elland Road, Old Trafford, Maine Road and Goodison Park. I was only ever concerned about Hull City results.
I now live and work in the Scunthorpe area (note , area - that's important, as I avoid the town apart from emergencies). Work brought me here as I got tired of paying the bridge fees and produced my own six fingered beauty, so relocated. Anyhow, I know at least four plastics from work that are' going in the Hull end' like it's their divine ****ing right. I've told them they will get their faces smashed, so please don't let me down I also know of an additional two grown men from the area who have booked into Forest Pines tonight with their families, with the hope of seeing Klopp eat his cornflakes. I kid you not. It had me howling with derision. Let's give them some ripe humble pie. No , I no longer hold a season ticket , so won't be there. It pains me so(see Hove's excellent post above, plus general football malaise and sanitisation and all the other stuff done to death on here (plus, i've found there's a big world out there with not going) Smash the plastic scousers. I remember those weak ****s from school, with their '****ty city' taunts
I was a bit the same, whilst in Scotland I went to watch Aberdeen, and had reasons for quiet a while being in Newcastle on weekends once a month, and used to go and watch Newcastle in the Beardsley era, but was never bothered who won, just enjoy watching live football.
Are you saying that you are boycotting the home games by not taking your boy, but you are still going yourself. Very honourable of you.
Thank you very much. I go also because my friends who I go with I've been friends with since secondary school. It's a rare opportunity we get to meet up with us all having young families now. Not that I need to justify myself to you. How do you support the team? Boycott, no show? How very supportive of you.
When we went down in 2010 and I didn't know when we'd be back up I tried to find another team to watch on TV each week but just couldn't bring myself to care about anyone else. Ended up just watching games that I had fantasy players in. Only City for me, now and always.
I don't suppose that selling out has anything to do with the game being at 3pm on a Saturday, i.e., the proper time for a football match.
I use to watch City. AND all football that was on tv. Now Its rare I watch any games unless its HULL CITY playing
much the same with me. I have lived abroad quite a bit so there are times when OGC Nice and later the Portland Timbers have been my local team (hence my use name) and I would attend both regularly. Watching football live is so much better than the TV experience. Years back as an impoverished student in Newcastle I would go and watch them as travelling up and down to Hull regularly was too much of a drain on resources. A little earlier than you, this was in the days of Malcolm McDonald and co., they were great going forward and scored shed loads of goals (and also conceded a lot).
What strikes me as odd is that there's a call for the boycotters to get behind the team and end their dirty protest. Only to be slagged off if they do by some on here. I'm confused. For the record I'm not going until daft lad does one, off to watch Trainspotting 2 with her indoors instead and then off for a few sherbets in old town.
It will be intresting to see if anyone is in the standing spot next to me as its been empty for league games all season.
Seeing other clubs sell out at times other than 3pm on a Saturday I would say, yes, it has nothing to do with it.
With respect , Bollocks . However you may support another team from a different sport ie. Rovers in rugby , but if you support City you cannot support another team .
