Alert for Princess and Swanny - in the opening juvenile hurdle at Carlisle today we have a son of Haafhd - Jasper Jay - engaged. Currently 50/1 available, going described as "soft, good to soft in places"
Jasper Jay out to 100/1 now - would probably only need run to 115 here to place, ought to be possible for a 65 rated flat horse. Mind you, trainer Gemma Anderson is 0/35 over the last 5 years ................
200/1 now Jasper Jay ....................... sneaky little e/w bet because this is a weak race and you just never know
Sam Spinner comes in for the first (and most obvious) part of my hero trixie. Halcyon Days and Treaty Girl coming home would net me enough to get a new guitar pedal board (and is therefore not going to happen)
Many thanks, Oddy, only just finished my share of the house cleaning, much to my better half's disapproval. Just got started late. Would definitely have had a few bob e/w at 200/1, would have been in some distress otherwise, had it won! You know, I once had an old Skoda in my early days abroad, bloody thing had elastic bands on the fan belt, I think. Got me around though, even in those far-off days it sounded as though it was battery-operated............ As for dear old Haafhd, I was just a mere punter, but Princess actually looked after him, right from the start, I believe. Believe she mentioned a while ago that Haafhd was now standing at stud somewhere up north? Ah, a grand miler who stayed the extra two furlongs well. Barry Hills said he was the best he'd ever had at a mile, and that's saying something. It's difficult, but right up there as my favourite racehorses of all time have to be Monksfield, Haafhd, and One Man.
