What's with all this "snide" business - is it Word of the Week or something?

He does himself no favours when he goes for the victim angle, it's transparent, as he's used the same tack umpteen times over the years to deflect away from a poor result.

I liked Koeman at Soton and I think he's getting to grips with EFC now, I think it took him a while to 'get' us, but he seems to be making headway now.

He's been ruthless in his binning off of the Martinez collection, and I'm pleased he's given a few of the young lads game time, and I expect a couple more to feature before the end of the season, as there's some real talent in the current pool.

I think Klopp is a charismatic manager, but I wish he'd tone down some of the touchline antics tbh. I know it's passion etc, but I think both him and Conte push the envelope.

suppose you might well be right on that. dutch fella are not as mellow as the rep would suggest..

I really don't care if you keep him though... you are going to stay right where you are under him. nothing wrong with that mind.

He's taken us from 11th to 7th already mate, with the right backing there's no reason we couldn't close the gap to the top 6 next season imo.

ita harder to go from 7th to 6th than it is to go from say 14th to 8th. A lot of those mid tables teams like West Brom, Stoke, Watford etc move around in and amongst. Normally only 6-7 points between them all. Many tail off in last few months once safe and can't go anywhere either.

ah but everyone says we can't stay there even til may :)

in the end 3 things determine this:

    1. Stability of clubs above you and yourself. If all 6 clubs keep their managers and things in general it would be quite unusual that a team could change enough in one summer to jump the queue.

LFc this year have benefited form the continued demise of city as the guardiola appointment ****ed them up and is still doing so, benefited from utd not being able to score for 3 month of season and drawing too many, West ham rightly imploding, and finally southampton going ****.... cheslea coming back was always on the cards.

    2. you clubs ability to buy the players. Spurs with respect have spent 5/6 years building through a number of managers and it too ka good while to break top 4 last year and now this year they are still not challengers but are probably easily top 4. spurs didn't add much but had done it well for a few years

LFC have not done well in the market for a long time but signs are matip and mane were good additions. We only have about 11 players and the rest and average.

    3. Injuries and what occurs during any season in terms of just luck or bad luck.

In general this season the top 6 have been way way above anyone else in performance but theres nothing to say one of the teams won't come apart at the seams especially if one loses a real key player.

We have seen city buckle without kompany and gundogan. utd have struggled a bit early on. LFC fell apart without mane in particular but coutinho was missed as was matip

All In all.... if everton are 7th then who will they beat to 5th or 6th? Liverpool and city? arsenal?

Standards are crawling up in the league. Everton would probably need to do a bit of work and hope southampton win the league cup so they can avoid europe next year

    Back to Moureen.
He's sold DePay and he's now told Martial he "has to play better". Is that it? Is that how you become a top coach? Just say to players you have to be better than you are? What about helping them to understand what they need to do and how they need to progress: to coach them in other words. It was in the papers that they are going to pay £85 million for Griezzman, so what happens to Rashford? You pay that sort of money you got to play him so Rashfords future is ****ed. He's on the bench with 10 minutes here and there. Might as well sell him now!

    1 word - Leicester

The glass ceiling was smashed last season. Sure we've seen a return to the 'expected' top 6 this season, but Soton broke into it last season and then lost their manager <whistle>

There's always fluctuations in form, good and bad buys, manager changes etc etc but there's no reason a club can't break into that group as you lot have proved this season, and Leicester and Soton did last year.

We haven't proved anything yet tobes. It's February not may.

Leicester and saints was final finishing position.ours is a work in progress, and a lot of luck needed that we don't lose key players, as our backup is so ****e they should be playing in the conference league, and we might get top 4 with our first 11.

You'll defo finish in the top 6 though (barring a complete collapse, which I can't see happening despite your ropey form in Jan)

    it is remarkably simple

I mean i think we have all seen through depay at this point so thats not exactly an amazing decision

Why he binned morgan schneiderlin will only become clear as the guy plays for everton

Martial is not a winger. I got told i was stupid for saying that but he is not. He is clearly a huge risk by utd day one and a panic by for van gaal but he was good. He is not looking happy at being shunted wide but he's quick and a finihser.

If mourinho dosn't fancy the guy ok.. hes out even if utd splurged silly money on him after seeing their season that year looking **** after 2 games. I think he'll be sold.

Buying a world class player like greizmann for a mega club like utd :emoticon-0112-wonde just makes sense. he would improve any side in the world, even barca.

I would agree. Rashford woudl or could end up as the loser and leave like wellbeck but he coudl end up replacing ibrahimovic in a years time

    Or could play wide...

If you look at it I'd expect a 433 type set up there

    Greezymann Ibrahimovic Rashford/martial
    Mikhitaryan Pogba X

I think if utd get that line up they need a CM that will cover the forward play and they need to sort the back line out. but if LFC bid on griezmann i'd be delighted. I thought we should have before atletico got him FFS.

But yes. one of matrial or rashford will go and rooney certainly makes no sense any more.
