Enrique medical at Liverpool

Fair play he's moving on to better things which you have to expect given his quality. He said he wants European football. Liverpool have a good chance of achieving this next year (possibly even CL but more likely Europa). This will aid his international ambitions and progress his career. Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in football in terms of tradition and history and are side going places with huge investment.

For those moaning about them not being in Europe this year, its not really relevant. He just wants European football and he has virtually no chance of that with us barring an unexpected cup run or a tight league again. Clearly the other left back slots are filled at the big four with Cole, Gibbs, Evra, Clichy/Kolorov so you are left with Spurs or Liverpool. No brainer. The only other option would be going back to Spain as he will want to in England or Spain. Get over it he has outgrown us and is taking a step up the ladder in his career. Thats football and us being a club with poor finances and an owner who wants the club in a sellable state.

I wish him all the best and as much as I want him to stay I fully understand his reasons for moving on and the choice he has made. Thanks for the memories and his professional attitude while at the club. A true gent and someone who gave his all to the cause despite the club being a complete mess. Won't forget him sticking around to help us back up and the dignity with which he has handled his departure.

 

Did you really believe yourself when you said you thought Enrique would stay? The writing's been on the wall for months, you cant be that surprised.

 

6 Million for a player we paid 6.3 million for who is in his last year of his contract you'd have to say is good business.

As for going to liverfool we always knew it was coming even though the timing is ****e, as for the ambition I think it's a load of ****.
They have spent a fortune on players and had a car crash of a pre season (which I wouldn't predict the up coming season on), we've had a car crash of a season and brought in a few players in a more shrewder way.

I can't see Liverpool challenging for the top 4 for a couple more seasons, so think it's a bit mis-guided for the supporters and Enrique to think they will be there.
I don't expect us to be there for some time either but can see us making progress with the additions we've made.

Which makes me think it's more about the money than the love of football.
