Off topic. I wonder as a joke if you get Woodison set up as a listed building? How does one petition to get one listed?

It would be funny if it got listed making it harder for them to move or improve. <laugh>

I think the facing on the old highbury was listed and made it impossible for arsenal to rebuild

this is what it looks like now

    ridiculous in other words

but the place was stone faced

so it was really iconic building of the 1930s or whenever.

but the simply could not redevelop in the footprint and had to move.

That does look rather ridiculous, at least from the air.

I think that's a great idea tbh. How much extra would fans pay to live there too?

Football fans living in the shell of a former stadium where no football is played is as pointless as crack addicts and alchos living in the burned-out shell of the cheese hoping some lost ale delivery truck wanders by.

Strangely enough ....... Thanks to the Government’s Localism Act 2011 people living in England can request that a stadium, pub or other community amenity, even if privately owned, can be listed as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). This will mean that if it ever comes up for sale, communities will be able to gain extra time to bid for the ground or asset.

My Dad's house is 800 years old and any modifications have to be built with the same materials it was built with. There's a quarry in the adjacent farmland of which the stone was excavated. The timber windows have to be built from the same trype of wood in Pembrokeshire and the glass has to be made locally somewhere. Always was a fascinating house to grow up in. When we knocked some interior walls down 15 years ago all the carpentry was signed and dated in the 1860s by the builders.
