I couldn't agree more with saying we are one short through the spine. I've never been sold on Cooper and even then past him we have no one. He wouldn't be a bad 4th choice to have but not 3rd. Having sold Mowatt now and sending Murphy and Diagouraga on loan we could be a little short in CM as Grimes is useless. We still have Bridcutt, O'Kane, Vieira and Phillips. I honestly think Phillips won't make it but this area is probably my smallest concern. Up front, past Wood we have no one who is good enough to fill in in a promotion winning team. Our first 11 is very good imo. and can beat anyone. Pray no injuries or tiredness hits though.
Interesting videos above. We all know the dangers off judging from videos.................. but..................... Barrow looks like he is a true right winger, lots of speed, looks unfinished and I think could be frustrating to watch. Not sure how good his decision making will be, maybe he's there as another option with Sacko still first choice? The Spanish (or, to some, Italian) lad - looks more of a left wing striker, can play wing and also know where goal is, I have a feeling he will be more of an immediate contender for a place as his play in the clips looks a bit more direct and economical, when he gets the ball you feel he knows what to do. Both interesting though.
Big Al is £8m bargain because if succesful that cash equates to £12m based upon EFL pricing. We havent had that for years even though Macmoney was valued at that when he left, but we also havea £3m player playing like a £14m player in Woody
On the videos, most of the footage for Barrow was reserve games, hardly any of the clips actually lead to a goal or an assist but I too will reserve judgement. My biggest issue this window was not securing Jansson and the loans. We are so on the edge of something big or being straight back to square one. Imagine we don't go up, Bartley goes back to Swansea, Jansson gets a better offer and an agent in his ear, Taylor walks out, we are left with Ayling, Berardi, Cooper. The two new wingers go back along with Sacko and we're left with all the same problems we had at the start of the season. The loan to buy isn't investing in the future, it isn't building us a solid base to push on from should we miss out this season.
All correct. However given our lack of big money owners, its the best we can hope for and were not being mortgaged to the hilt like Risdale did. Its still a million miles ahead of what we had with Bates and GFH. Ive a gut feeling, were going up through the playoffs anyway and all will turn out fine
Must admit, I have a feeling this could be our season but we really could have done with signing Bartley and Jansson. The play offs are a lottery, if we get there I just hope Green doesn't have one of his dodgy moments. Anyway, too far ahead of myself, hoping for a win tonight or I will be even more pissed off about the Sutton selection.
Ristac and Eire are both correct which now means the most important signing is Garry Monk and his team. That one needs to get over the line fast or we could end up with Swansea, Southampton, Arsenal, Watford, or Leicester all chasing his signature and thats just obvious prem teams. Yes Arsenal is a reality as plenty of stories about young English manager with promise to take over. If he doesnt sign all those loan players are gone and can see Pontus walking into any prem club. Monk knows Mo so I believe he knows exactly what hes capable of and he hasnt been wrong yet, besides Grimes who I believe is a great prospect. Pep and Monk have been chasing Big Al for a while and if Newcastle, Palace and more were after him ...
I didn't want Monk, I wanted to keep Evans, I listened to Swansea fans about Grimes, Monk and Bartley thankfully they were only correct on one. I think Clotet is probably due as much credit for our fortune as Monk but right now I don't care I'm glad I was wrong and the chemistry is just right at the moment. I don't care what Cellino thought or any fan and their expectations at the start of the season, Monk and his team and his coaches are probably 8 months ahead of where we should be, we have a great foundation and no matter how good or bad the two new guys are we have four proven members who should have been secured, Monk, Clotet, Bartley and Jansson. Pedrazza I can totally understand, but the other contracts should have been sorted. Imagine a PL club coming in for Monk or Clotet giving him the chance to manage, players like Jansson might want to follow.
Im not having a go at Rad here. He heads an investment bank and I assume periodically he has to report to the shareholders. Given we appear to have lost 8m in season past, surely he cant be seen to pour huge chunks of cash into the Leeds project in his first month in the job. As much as Id like to see Monk, Clotet, Jansson all tied down, its likely down to some clever accounting or different financial years or whatever. Not ideal but at least the clubs been run with a degree of common sense even if it doesnt always suit us fans. Phil Hay said the other day, Monk had an option of a years extension on his contract. Ive no idea if that suits him or the club though
Has Rad joined us off his own back, is it he that owns 50% or is it his business? I thought it was solely him? If it is as a business in the form of investors that will be GFH all over again...
Ayone on here know much about the Fair Play Rules, or whatever they're called? I can't understand how some clubs can spend such huge chunks of money when they've probably got less coming in at the gates than us, less tv money, and similar or less players sales revenue. How do they seem to get round the rules? As I understand the basics, they're only allowed to make a certain loss over a certain period, and can only input a limited amount of money each year. So how do they manage to shell out so much cash? Aren't there limits to overdrafts these days? I thought that was one of the fundamentals that Fair Play was built around. What it comes down to is whether we're doing it right & they'e doing it wrong .... or .... everyone's doing it right, but our excess that we don't spend is being syphoned off, á la Bates .... or .... everyone's doing it wrong. I honestly have no idea what's happening. Anyone got any insight?
I don't want to pour cold water on our new ownership, but a third of what is leeds United is the ground and Thorp Arch which are owned by a faceless crook who has no interest in Leeds United. Until ER, TA. and the football club are in the possession of one owner the crook has the club by the knackers.
This is the first season where the Championship is judged like the PL in that it operates over the next 3 years not Year to year. You can lose £13m a season or £5m if the owner refuses to inject their own money. Relegated clubs can lose £35m a season Edit got the link now http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/financial-fair-play-explained.php
FFS, really? Wow! Didn't realise it was that loose. I thought they were trying to tighten it up. So is there a linit on the total loss you're running at? e.g. can you lose £13m a year for 10 years and be sitting with overall debts of £130m? (If it gets too complicated, let me down gently. I'll never understand it ).
