It was never a free kick, but listen, it was twenty five yards out and wasn't exactly a dodgy pen (they got that later). I'm reminded years ago when Stevie went over easily in the last minute at Villa in the same position, then converted the free-kick. This was a Villa team with Ashley Young in it, but it didn't stop their fans and the anti-Liverpool media acting as if the ref had given us a pen and forced their goalie to be chained to the corner flag whilst it was taken.

I think 1-1 was a fair result. It could have been worse if costa had scored the penalty. So let's take that point.

As for the pen, I can only assume Mig didn't hear the whistle because of the noise, because even though he has his faults, looking the other way as a shot is coming in isn't one of them.
Tbh, I'm not sure he'd have got near it if he had been looking.

Free kick or not, that display of organisational ineptitude and lack of awareness was totally unforgivable at a professional level. Hopefully the management look on this as disgraceful and have a serious plan of action to finally get this keeper situation and defensive frailty sorted in the summer. Heads got to roll

 

Every keeper is entitled to mistakes, but , Simon Mignolet has made too many.

 

No heads to roll for me, Migs has been very good since his return.
Sort out the LB situation and find a partner for Matip, also a quality DM to protect.
It was poor organisation, the important thing is being better next time
