Statistically corners just aren't a good oppurtunity to score, only a fraction even lead to an attempt on goal. Makes conceeding from a breakaway from a corner unforgivable imo.

Don't like this at all. I've accepted that we only play with one CDM but the defence behind needs to be spot on (i.e. Fonte and VVD). All our success over recent years has been based on TWO CDMs. Two. 2. II. 2️⃣

 

Indeed. Hasn't always been like this. In years gone by a corner was almost like a free kick on the edge of the box.

And 2 CDMs means the other CM is free to go forward.

1 CDM leaves the other two in limo - too often they play safe and don't join the attack.

 

Was still bad defending and organisation. Most goals, even the great ones involve bad defending.

 

Most of this season we have played with 3 CDM on the pitch! Just not playing in their right position. Hence the lack of creativity and goals.

 

Trouble is we only have one decent DM

 

I don't really class classie, Davis, jwp or hojoyleberg CDM's. They're box to box midfielders, every team needs one or 2.

Romeu, clasie, Reed are 100% CDM and Höjbjerg is pretty defensive too. JWP and Davis not so much.
