Yeah I wouldn't class any of the Bond movies sequels per se. They are part of the same franchise of movies that have the same character, but the stories are usually in no way connected to each other, they are stand alone movies. Unlike say, The Harry Potter Movies or Lord of the Rings for example, in which the next movie is a continuation of the same story. Haven't watched a decent Bond film since Goldeneye to be honest. They are all the same. Bond gets assigned some task by M, Bond gets given some gadget by Q to help achieve said task, Bond meets his contact in foreign country where task is going to take place (usually a hot female with whom he flirts), gets some intel, meets the bad guy at some neutral place in order for them to size each other up and trade quips (this is usually a casino, golf course, gun range, race track) where they can both be passive aggressive to each other, at this point he will meet the bad guys main henchman (usually another hot female, this time bad, with whom he will flirt), Bond infiltrates some base or building, gets captured (usually the good female will be captured also) he gets tied up and threatened with a Laser or a shark pit (While Austin powers hilariously combined both by having Sharks with frickin' Laser beams attached to their heads), he is inexplicably left guarded by one inept guard whilst he is unnecessarily slowly dipped into the shark pit or slow moving laser, he will use the gadget Q gave him earlier to free himself and the Bond girl, storm the rest of the base, kill the bad guy, and the main henchwoman, cut to end scene with Bond and Bond girl laying on a beach/boat having sex, cut to credits (the Bond girl is never seen or heard from again) That is pretty much ALL Bond films.
Skyfall is an absolutely excellent film dude, try it. All of Daniel Craig's Bond films are good but that is outstanding, Casino Royale is also good with him in it, Quantum of Solace less so. Spectre sits somewhere between.
What would you classify the " Rocky "movies as , and then what would you classify " Balboa " as toward the Rocky movies.
Aliens has the most action, granted, but I love the feel and concept behind Alien. Plus, I must prefer Ridley Scott's style. It's all personal taste, of course.
Only seen two films with Daniel Craig in it. One was Layer Cake, which is one of the ****test movies I have ever seen. The other was the US remake of Girl with the Dragon tattoo, and the original was so much better.
The Swedish trilogy ( think it's Swedish )version of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was absolutey brilliant , enjoyed it immencily ...emmencely .... quite a bit .
Ok, but that has no bearing on his Bond films!!! Bizarre take on Layer Cake by the way, I think that's a cracking film. It's like a Guy Richie film only actually good. Or maybe i'm just dazzled by Sienna Miller in suspenders. Just the thought gives me a nudger.
The Rocky films are sequels as they continue a story and you can't watch one without understanding who he is etc. etc. Not sure what you mean about Balboa. Edit: if you mean what genre are they, then it's sports.
blastphemy. 1 was brilliant, original and funny 2 was pretty funny but not a patch on 1 and was predictable for the most part
One of the only highlights of the film, made the viewing completely worth it. Other than that, it was complete pants. Jude Law must be mental though, cheating on that! I just find Daniel Craig irrationally irritating. There are a few actors with whom I take an irrational disliking to and find it hard to watch their movies. Daniel Craig is one of them.
lol whilst i'm not a massive fan of bond films you could probably apply a cliched approach to pretty much every film. Take the classic godfatther mafia boss has power, mafia boss gets betrayed, mafia bosses son takes revenge the end.
Yeah but the Godfather has 3 parts. There are like 19 Bond films, all pretty much the same story, but all separate from each other.
Just wondering if the fact that the first 5 " Rocky " movies had numbers behind it and then out of the blue they make one called " Balboa " has any berring on whats being discussed here ... although , I'm still not sure what's being discussed here ...lol
and I thought Skyfall was the best of the Craig Bond films and Casino Royale the worst. The first few Bond films Craig wasn't Bond. He didn't have the attitude or characterization right. He was just a generic spy. Plus drinking Heineken is not Bond. CR was about marketing first and movie making second. By Skyfall he learnt how to be Bond. (Or directors did)
Yeah that's a weird one. It's a marketing thing, high numbers tend to put off viewers. Stems from the Eighties when the horror movies would be on like their 8th, 9th and 10th sequel, all becoming increasingly more ridiculous. It has negative connotations which is why these days they usually go with a sub title (Like Harry Potter and the........., instead of Harry Potter 5!) or they change the title slightly like John Rambo, Rocky Balboa.
think thats why i liked them the most. Bond fell in love and his bird died leading him to the boring bond in skyfall. I think what i detested most about skyfall (even though the film itself was actually pretty good) was when after finally getting M and going on a massive good chase he doesn't actually kill her when he's alive. I dunno something about it i didn't like
