Good luck to the pair of them What did you pay us for them btw? I'm surprised we didn't chuck Kone in, as a buy two get one free deal tbh
Sounds about right tbf, Oviedo is a decent left back and IF Moyes can get a tune out of Gibson then he could do a job for you, his mobility is gash, but his use of the ball is excellent.
I like Oviedo, I thought he was very decent for you when he first came then he got that injury and never seemed to get back to where he was. A move might be what he needs now. I'd say about 3m - 4m. With Gibsons injury record and limited ability. I think 1m, maybe 1.5m. So I think it should have been about 4m - 5.5m.
Must admit Everton were my boyhood team until I was about 12 or 13 and I started going down to Roker Park to support my local team instead. I used to love the old team with liniker, southall, etc...... I continued having a soft spot for them but it's pretty much disappeared now, although I did enjoy watching them win I think it was the 95 game cup against Man Utd, mainly because a lot of friends by that time had suddenly started wearing and supporting Man Utd
Fine with this as long as we get a couple more tomorrow. Oviedo will be a good replacement for PVA and Gibson for some depth in CM.
Glad they're permanent as it won't leave us short next season. As well known anything decent we can't really afford so getting the best out familiar faces is a completely understandable way to go about. Gibson is quite decent actually if we can keep him fit. Making it work on a shoestring, it's what Dave has to do and he's trying to do it. Kudos.
It's the style he's used before and it's worked for him. Whether it works this time, we'll find out I'm a few months. What is apparent thought is that he seems to be surrounding himself with players who should relish if we go down, ones that are familiar as well.
Better than the risk of buying below average unknown quantities imo. It's not ideal but I think I'd do the same thing in his position. They're both the right side of 30, hopefully, pray to god, they turn out to be decent signings.
And if we don't stay up this year, which as we all know is looking a struggle. I can't imagine either of these two would leave for another PL side so he's also preparing for the Championship. As you said, shoestring.
Sounds sensible to me too mate. Circumstances are dictating. He`s going to players he knows and he must be confident they can do the job he wants them to do. Of course it could simply be he doesn`t trust our scouts cos they`re a pile of ****e. Just thought I`d throw that into the mix.
Think hitting the ground running could be a factor. You got to give overseas players time and with cash we've got we'd be taking risks on Jozy level of players. Summer window is the window for signings like that imo. Might be worth the risk if we had 20m like sam had as you can afford the extra bit of quality. But we've got peanuts. No way would I risk the overseas market with our budget, it would be a minefield imo.
Not overly excited by these signings but I do like the idea of Moyes bringing his own men in and hopefully getting them integrated into the squad. They know how he works and it may help bring the best out of others.
3 bodies in up to now and fair play to the 3 of them, they all know where we are in the league and obviously want to play football and not sit on the bench. There must be something about Moyes for players wanting to come here and play for him and Sunderland, at least they know what they are getting into and are hopefully up for it. Decent length contracts for their respective ages as well.
Feel like a bit of a dick always going against the grain at the moment. I think constantly going back to the North West of England when you have practically the whole world of footballers to choose from is weak as ****. We can just about put a team together now of players hes managed previously and he's done it in about 6 months. I've never known anything like it. Clearly I'm not happy about it.
I think it's circumstances dictating it. He knows he's got **** all cash so he's looking for maximum bang. Getting cheap veteran players in who he trusts who can help him get his ideas across to the dressing room. Think it's just a settling in period. He did well and Everton and didn't rely on players he managed at Preston.
