I am not denying he said it on that day, I'm saying he had said the same before his interview with Trump. His main massage was to accept the result (same as Brexit) of the US election.
I would agree with you that official visits have been given to people that are on the edge of respectability, usually all in the cause of trade. I believe that if you make these leaders feel that they are acceptable, then you by association tar yourself with the same brush. If you feel that trade is more important than people, then fine, but it is not a road that I want to see the UK go down. Sell your soul to the devil for some reason comes to mind.
I don't get all this Trump stuff rarely watching the media, but even with the best will in the world you cannot avoid it, so I have a question; If Trump is as bad as the British Media and internet sources portray him, how the hell did he get 63 Million votes (if my numbers are right)?
The examples I gave were all further away from the edge of respectability than Trump. If your view of refusing to trade with dodgy countries was implemented it would make the UK much poorer. The same applies to France. Like the 'extreme interrogation' subject it is easy to moralise whilst not being in a position of responsibility.
Normally politicians are criticised for changing policy once they are in power, so far Trump has kept his word.
The question has to be asked brb why Clinton got 3 million votes more than Trump and lost. Similar to the voting system in the UK when you do not always get what you voted for.
I know but i still don't get it....I honestly have not followed any of the presidential debates or outcome, but you only have to search the internet to see the propaganda against Trump. So as I ask if he is as bad as suggested, how come 63 Million people, more or less the population of the UK, vote for him.
Yup I get that too, but I guess their voting system is different to ours, but people seem to overlook one important fact, 63 Million people, regardless of States, regions etc.
That's no basis for deciding if someone is an idiot BRB. The Nazis got 35% of the vote in 1933. Putin, I believe got 90%+. Billions of flies eat **** but it doesn't mean they are right. The vast majority of people in rural America never see any news of the outside World whatsoever, in fact, I don't know if they realize the rest of the World exists.
Unlike the Uk referendum it was never going to be on majority wins. Everybody was aware of the voting system. Thankfully the Tories gained 2 million more votes than Labour in the 2015 election. They might be able to double that if another called soon.
What we are seeing SH is an administration in the USA that didn't prepare to take office and didn't realize what effect Trump would have across the world. What we do see is Republicans trying to get him to pull his horns in now that they realize that even the mighty country is not an island. He might be doing what he said, but it is having consequences that no one had imagined. The ordinary members of the public can be led to believe things and will vote for them, but when it comes down to how things work at an international level, it is a different matter altogether.
I don't know why they did, but I will pose another question. Seeing as the Americans appear to believe that they have the divine right to determine the politics of the rest of the World - and that this man is being touted as 'the most powerfull man in the World', shouldn't he be elected by the World ? I would presume that 63 million Americans were so locked into the 'me first' ideology and a few also locked onto the idea of protectionism (ie. American jobs first), a few others for populist, anti immigrant rhetoric - and, for the last reason, that the other option was not much better.
In America there are 3.3 Million Muslims, of them they mainly occupy three areas; New York Detroit Los Angeles I think I'm correct in saying that New York & California were won on the whole by Clinton...I'm not sure but I think Michigan (Detroit) was shared. This still does not account for any female vote within Trumps numbers.
And despite all that more people didn't want him than did. The country is made up of many who started life elsewhere, and compared to the UK the poverty and riches are even more unevenly spread. A huge number from the least wealthy voted for him if research is to be believed, because he promised them something better.
I think it would be a worrying state of affairs if we seriously believed 63 Million Trump voters are crazy or hoodwinked or even the things colognehornet suggests. I'm by no means sticking up for Trump but before i berate him, I would love to know why such a huge population voted for him, to say they are all the things above is crazy or either very concerning for such a powerful nuclear giant. and sadly as much has I find the Americans irritating I do not think they are crackpots...well maybe a few
BRB, I think people voted for Trump because they were sick and tired of the political status quo, which appeared to only be interested in preserving their positions of power. Trump appealed to the populist vote and provided overly simplistic solutions to complex problems. These sorts of solutions are very persuasive to those who feel that they have no voice. Trump has given them a voice, or so they think. The appeal of Trump to the marginalised, white, working class voter is the same as the appeal of IS and Al Qaeda to marginalised, working class, Muslim youth. Both groups believe that they have been given a huge amount of self-respect and significance by their respective leaders.
The anti democratic antics in the US are the same as those currently being employed in the UK against the Brexit vote. When the deniers are unable to accept the result they try to change the rules. The worst example is the Lib Dem leader, Farron, who says with a straight face that he accepts the result then gives 10 reasons why it should be opposed.
Maybe we are moving into a new age of politics and tactics but who the hell is fooling who is the difficult concept to work out, and to get to that truth you have to scrape your way through millions of clones.
