£3m? I thought West Ham had the hold of derisory bidding? That's a bit of a piss take by Sunderland if that's true. I'd love Ulloa at City - I think he's a good striker.

We need to sign players, not let more leave, says Marco Silva after Hull City’s loss to Fulham

HEAD COACH Marco Silva believes Hull City’s FA Cup exit underlines the need for the club to strengthen significantly in the final 36 hours of the transfer window.
The Tigers slumped to a 4-1 defeat at Fulham on an afternoon when Abel Hernandez missed two late penalties as the Championship side ran out worthy winners. “We are playing a lot of games in a row and we don’t have the players to do the rotation we need,” said Silva. He has reiterated there will be no more departures before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline amid speculation West Ham United and Southampton want Harry Maguire. “We have to do something in the next two days to get more players in our squad. We have to bring quality into our squad and we need to bring three or four players in. Losing this game shows we have work to do. We will try and bring in players. “What we want for the rest of the season is to stay in the Premier League. We changed things on Thursday (in the League Cup semi-final against Manchester United) and again here. But it is not easy with only 15 players. “We have had to use players from our Academy. They are good players, but at this level we need more quality.” Asked about the interest in Maguire, the Tigers’ head coach said: “We need to sign players, not let more leave.” Hull were a pale shadow of the side that had performed so admirably against Manchester United last Thursday. “It was not a good day for us,” added Silva, who visited Ryan Mason in hospital on Saturday and says the midfielder is “progressing well” from the fractured skull suffered in the 2-0 loss at Chelsea. “Our team will improve. It is not easy to lose a game like we did. Fulham deserved the victory. We did not start well and they were strong. The first goal was a gift. We need a reaction in our next game.” Curtis Davies will have a scan today on the hamstring strain that forced the defender out of yesterday’s tie after just nine minutes. He is expected to miss the next three games against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. Michael Dawson is expected to recover from the slight knee injury that kept the Hull captain out of yesterday’s Cup exit.

According to Burnsy, whenever he asks MS about a player linked with us, he gives 2 answers... he's either honest and says "no, we arnt interested in him" or he says "i wont talk about players until they sign"

When asked about Nani yesterday he said "no, there's nothing in that". But when asked about Cameroon international Nicolas N’Koulou he said "i dont want to talk about a player that isnt ours"

So according to Burnsys theory.. .we're in for this defender. To be fair it makes sense because since MS arrived we've had trouble at CB due to injuries. I think this would be a loan deal though as signing him on a perm would mean dropping either Maguire, Davies or Dawson.

You could make a case for having one more loan than you can accommodate, to cover for an injury, but bringing in the 3/4 players that Silva wants, while not being able to use 2/3 of them unless others are injured, would be plain daft.

I've just read the HDM piece by Swanny, he sometimes talks sense, but his ramblings about Maguire leaving & he wouldn't be surprised are completely bollocks IMO. He's just fishing to stir up **** & get people, what I'm doing, talking about it.

Is anyone else a bit nervous about this week? I've got a nagging feeling of impending doom regarding Silva walking...

Just to clarify this isn't even a rumour, it's just a personal thought that I can't shake.

Yes BCC, agree, I think the situation is ominous at the moment, Marco has definitely put his marker in the sand re. no more outgoings, specifically adamant in interviews after Fulham about Maguire, and we all know that no one dictates to Rehab and the consequences.... if Rehab is tempted to cash in, could be the final straw for Silva?

Naa I believe Ehab and Silva are doing everything they can to bring players in. I also think we would have had realistic targets lined up (made enquiries to see if available) before the Livermore & Snodgrass deals were finalised.

We've had a month to bring players in, yet other than a nominal fee for Evandro, we've had no confirmation of any players we've actually bid for yet and the window closes tomorrow.

I think Bummers is right, Silva was drawing a line in the sand yesterday.

Didn't we confirm we'd put a bid in for Bailey?
