I'm not entirely sure this is a lie, Telford. Us Brits like to play by the rules, which is why we prefer to form queues and cough politely into our hands and get quietly outraged rather than point out the error of queue-jumpers' ways. I find it wholly believable that, having joined a club, we'd have embraced its rules and played fair in our dealings with fellow members. So I find it equally believable that, having had many years of witnessing other club members not entirely operating to that same set of values, we may have decided that this isn't the sort of club we wish to be a member of.

    Well said.

I don't believe for one minute that most Brexiteers want the UK to turn into an authoritarian right-wing society that suppresses discussion and change by labelling it "unpatriotic" when legitimate concerns are raised. I don't believe that most Brexiteers want to cripple our economy for a generation so the country cannot afford what it needs for its citizens and the poorest suffer even more.

The risk of both these things happening is great. If we carry on sniping at each other and try to win petty arguments just for the sake of winning them, then all we'll be doing is distracting ourselves from the real villains and the damage they will do to all of us.

I doubt that any of the Remainers on here are "smug elite" and that any of the Brexiteers are "stupid and racist". We deserve better from each other. Why not start now?

SkyNews are getting a h@@d on today as 1m people have signed a petition to stop Trumpton coming here. Why weren't they this vocal when the Chinese President visited? I bet you cannot guess how many people have been liquidated or imprisoned since he has been leader? Did Mugaby visit the UK as well?

Don't worry Ellers - its only an advisory petition (like the EU ref) and can be ignored :)

Sky love a drama to fill those news hours though, don't they. Wonder how they will change once it becomes 100% Fox

Agree mate. I hate all this politics stuff. If QPR would play better I could concentrate on that.

Here is something to throw into the mix.
All these protests about Donald Duck coming over yet why are these protesters staying quiet about Israelis?
16 countries don't allow Israelis in (including I believe TF's own)?

Can't disagree with that. Only thing is it's not easy to get into Israel if you're from those countries either.

A little more eloquently put, but basically no more than the familiar 'you lost, get over it'.

As opposed to the more than familiar "sour grapes make the best whine"? And I'm sorry that's all you took from my post. I thought it said way more than yah boo sucks but if that's all you read into it then hey ho.

    No it's a lie.

"...Of all laws passed by the EU. the British voted for them as well..." was what was claimed. This is demonstrably false. I should say I don't think CH is a liar, just that in his excitement, his absolute belief in his cause, he's peddling an untruth and it needs nailing.

I take your point though. This passing of laws is a massive sore point for me. Pedantry aside I *think* I know what he's trying to say. I think he's saying that we've "been there" as it were while these laws were passed and that he thinks that should be enough, whether we as a country vote for these laws or not. If I'm right and he is saying this then he's massively wrong. Give me a truly accountable supranational organization fit for purpose and I'll genuinely consider ceding democratic control. The EU isn't this organization and it never will be.

There continues to be a lot of nonsense spouted about what EU law has done for us but does anyone really think if we hadn't been lied into the Common Market and gone through the whole Common Market/EC/EU/EUSSR process we'd still be sat here with 1972 statutes on our books and nothing else? Where we've had the sense to stay away from this organization and trusted ourselves we've done fine.

    Single Currency anyone?
