Not bothered that pundits keep picking us out. We're the biggest fallers from the weekend so that's going to happen. What annoys me is they keep saying we played a youth team which clearly wasn't the case. Bar Gomez, Ejaria and Randall, it was internationals ffs

I actually agree with him, tbh. Not about singling us out - because so many do it - but the principle of playing weakened sides in the cup.
I was pissed off with our line-up yesterday, and not surprised they fell.

If you're going to play a weakened team, you have to make sure you win. Nobody complains then. As far as I know Lineker has said nothing about the Arsenal line up.

Me too...but its not disrespectful to the competition..teams that don't play the best team available risk going out. Which usually means the team going through didn't and deserved to be in the next round. How is that teams victory and participation a sign of disrespect? It's an arrogant attitude from linekar...Basically saying that if it doesn't end up with the biggest richest clubs in the land at the back end of the comp it's been a joke. The exact opposite of what the FA cup represents imo.

It is disrespectful to the weakened teams fans though...as I said.

Changing your GK with 10mins to go, taking the piss?? Does Lineker hate it when the big clubs do that as well?

True. But losing to another Premiership team isn't so bad.

Hmm, I didn't really read it as that, just that clubs should put out the best team that they can - and that playing a weakened side implies that you're not bothered enough to take the competition seriously. I don't think Klopp is thinking like that (though Rafa did, at first), I just think he is still under-estimating the ability and will to win of lower placed teams.

I suppose it's just that I don't care what pundits think or say. Sometimes I agree with them, and sometimes I don't, but I can't be bothered to be bothered by what they say - unless it's something particularly unjust.

    This.

My beef has never been the weakening of our teams. Sometimes you have to do it especially if there is a tough big match coming up in the next few days.

My issue has been that the manager has to make a risk assessment in terms of the players he is going to use and the opposition. People has said here that there were enough senior players to win. But it doesn't work like that. You thrown in 4 youngsters in full back positions you have vulnerable areas which the opposition can exploit.

The lesson I hope Klopp will learn is that in England the bottom championship side can give anyone a game and that putting more than a couple of youngsters unbalances the team and the normal flow of the game.

    Just a note.

Being an international is not actually special any more like it had been in the olden days before smart phones.

Lucas... oh yeah hes an international but hes still utter dogshit wh ok ran towards the ball allowing one pass ro take him out of the game.

Klavan.. come on. Estonian legend and championship standard at best.

    Moreno is not one btw.

Origi is a sub for belgium but hes also total muck for 3 months and wins nothing aerially and constantly fouls and is on his heels.

    Who else? Wijnaldum?

Fir-****ing-mino who cant get in brazil squad and whos on a drink driving charge but is still too busy dieing his hair and teeth to prepare or try a leg.

    Sure.. class acts.

    :)

I shall tear more strips off this lot later.

Van Gaal got sacked after winning the FA cup, Dalglish got sacked after winning the League cup, its no surprise that managers do not prioritise these competitions at all <ok>

Correlation, not causation. I think there may have been a few other contributory factors. <ok>

Winning is a good habit, regardless of the importance of the competition. It creates self-belief, whereas a string of defeats demoralises everybody.

They got sacked for failing to deliver sonething else not for winning a cup

Do you honestly believe that had kenny not backs suarez on race

    Or

If utd had not found that mourinho was available and had lined him up 6 months prior to utd even not getting to cl 4th place trophy.

That either would be sacked for winning a cup but not getting 4th.

Its really simple. Dalglish and comolli were done rhe minute they ****ed up suarez and van gaal was gone the day mourinho left chelsea.

Linekar #confirms the Man Utd bias in televised FA Cup games is a mandate by the FA themselves and not a choice of the broadcasters

You have 2 games in 4 days with a limited squad. One of them is at home against a team in championship in cup, one of them is against team at top of table in league in which you're only 2 above 5th and 2 below 2nd.

    Do you

    A) play your strongest team in game 1 and same team in game 2 few days later. Probably win first game but team be tired for 2nd against a big rival.

    B) Play slightly weaker team in first which is filled with 5 first team internationals and 4 under 23s (and 2 other experienced players) and still be in with good chance of winning given if that team played in same division for whole season would be above opponents and give others a rest for the league game.
