I didnt think this one through :(

Honestly though the whole saga was mentally draining... it was like we all completed a law degree ffs. People were quoting Mckenzie vs Kunta Kente in the Chicken George trial of 1546 in their arguments. I never want to discuss this whole episode ever again (...with a liverpool fan <whistle> )

I often go to random games in this country and even when I'm holidaying in Europe. I last watched Liverpool at Anfield against Chelsea, you won 1-0 and I think it was Rigobert Song that scored. Le Saux was sent off for Chelsea. Your atmosphere was terrific that day.

Proper fans and atmospheres back in the day. It must do your head in a bit, wanting to celebrate with your own people, your own fans and when you turn around to hug somebody after bagging a last minute winning goal, you see somebody that resembles Kim Jong Un just standing there snapping away on his camera. **** that.

Great post <ok> Unfortunately I don't have the motivation or patience to get into a pissing contest with you in an internet forum, you should go back to the Arsenal board for that, they seem to specialise in childish bickering.

<ok> It does mate, people used to be in awe of the atmosphere at Anfield, now its just pretty much a library outside of the odd game when you get the right mix of crowd. Just like the Emirates, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Etihad etc.

The problem is they don't feel the same joy as you when Liverpool score because they don't have the same emotional connection to the club so when you score a goal and everyone's going mental and hugging each other these people are sitting there scratching their heads wondering WTF are these guys who have never met doing hugging each other.

Unfortunately because they go the club shop and fill 2 bags worth of stuff when going the game our owners love them so we'll never get rid of them.

It was the worst. Probably a low point for the Liverpool/United boards since this site was created. It brought the worst out in all of us <laugh>

It's a difficult one. Tbf you could argue that ticket prices don't help. I'm a United member as are my kids. That's over a £100 right there BEFORE I have to spend another £160+ for every game I go to. And that's without the added costs of travel. That's meant me going from 6/7 games a season to going 2 possibly 3 times a sesson.

Now playing devil's advocate, IF some day tripper is paying that can you blame them? Or should we be blaming the clubs for pricing real fans (which I consider myself to be) out of the game. THAT is why clubs like Sunderland are still getting local support in huge numbers.

Clubs like Liverpool, United, Arsenal don't even rely on ticket sales anymore!! They could slash them and it wouldn't dent their revenue in the slightest.

That's spot on mate. Ultimately it is down to the club and the ticket prices, I think the Bayern president hit the nail on the head when he said there was no point in them upping their ticket prices because it would've gained them like an extra £2m per year, which is something they could make up by selling a youth team player.

The things that could be done to improve the atmosphere are certain % of tickets to local supporters and also the introduction of safe standing. Not sure if there would be a massive improvement but it would definitely help in my eyes.

Honestly, since Evra's story got stronger with each retelling, it's hard to know exactly what was said. I suspect it was a lot less innocent than Suarez's claim of "Negrito" a friendly term for Black man in Uruguay. Even if it were, Suarez had been in Europe long enough to know it was unacceptable.

    He deserved to be punished.

That said I found it a little odd, Barton punches a guy in the face not long before and gets 3 match ban. Suarez is a racist prick and gets a 10 match ban. Both bad moves that deserves punishment. Is punching someone less of a faux pas than making a racist slur? Over 3 times worse?

Was it John Terry who got caught calling someone a n- not long before and got off Scot free. And Rio with his choc-ice comment.

I think FA needs to sit down and decide what length ban is acceptable for what crime. If racist behaviour is a 10 match ban, I'm OK with that, but I think punishments should be balanced and equally enforced.

Suarez got an extra long ban (comparatively to others because) he was Suarez.

For the record, I don't think Suarez probably is racist, certainly he seemed to be very close to several black teammates. I think he was just being an asshole trying to upset the frog eating batard.

It was Terry but he got 4 games (he only said or once, Suarez's ban was doubled to eight for saying it more than once)

Ok, that's right. Yeah, and I bet if Suarez only got 4 games there would have been a hell of a lot less outrage.

Tbh I think LFC handled it badly and probably did Suarez a disservice. I don't think he's a racist either. But he needed someone from the club to advise him properly and brought him into check over the whole incident.

The fact it was United, Fergie, Dalglish was manager of Liverpool, meant the whole thing snowballed out of control and everyone became more and more entrenched in their views.

Would the same have happened if it was the other way round? Probably tbh although I'd like to think we wouldn't have done the t-shirts <laugh>
