I'll tell you why that was, there was only two teams allowed in the CL at the time.
Manchester United are the only London team to be European Champions. They are called a London team due to a section of their fanbase. 20% of their support live in London,2% live in Salford, 75% live in China and 3% live in Ireland.

Sorry mate, can't agree with that - back when it was champions only in the European Cup, there were seasons when the best team in Europe (based on rankings anyway) ended up in the UEFA Cup. Had they not changed the format, our '99 Treble winners would have only ended up in the UEFA Cup which shows how tough it was prior to the formation of the CL. Even in 2001 Liverpool had to get past Roma, Porto and Barca to win the UEFA Cup - not as hard as the CL but certainly tougher than the FA Cup or League Cup imo.

Just ignore his off topic comments. He's like a mosquito bite - scratching just increases the irritation...

Yeah but remember that Fulham had a world class manager at the helm for that run ;)

And surely it's no crazier than Schalke, Malmo or Club Brugge getting as far as they have done in the CL on occasion? Or Crawley Town getting further than Chelsea in the FA Cup? A strong run of form and a bit of luck can go a long way in any cup competition.

aye, but watching them i thought that luck didn't have a lot to do with it, they were playing good football and grinding out some good wins. Tactical brilliance from the gaffer ;)

All the commentary I could think of are in this thread.

One piece that always has me is the one in FIFA 11 (Console game). It was Andy Gray talking to Martin Tyler, along the lines of - We have a job for life

    The irony now <doh>

You can choose out of the above.

Townsend and Tyldesley or Smith and Tyler.

Townsend and Tyldesley are much better IMO.

Rather have Smith and Tyler any day, even if Tyler's 'and it's liiiiive' thing is proper wrist-slitting stuff when you're watching Wolves vs Blackburn on a Monday night. Tyldesley's a nasal, annoying dickhead and Townsend's utterly clueless, another one whose awful accent completely grates on me. I actually find Channel 5's commentary team a cut above ITV's.

FAO KPR.....There are only 3 primary pieces of silver ware for any top division football club anywhere on earth.

The domestic league title, the domestic cup & the continental cup. In England this is the Premier League ( Old first division ), FA Cup and Champions League ( European Cup ). Anything else means you weren't good enough basically and settled for 2nd best. So that gives our clubs the following totals. Liverpool - 18.7.5 = 30 & Man Utd have 19.11.3 = 33. I hope this has helped you see the light and realise the error of your ways. No body, literally nobody counts the League Cup. The Uefa Cup once held a smidgen of prestige but for many many years its been truly awful. If your club aims to win the Uefa Cup at the start of the season it should be ashamed.
    ------------------------------

On topic......Obviously the 'Solskjaer has won it' one comes to mind.
