There´s absolutely no reason why it should be, if everyone adopted it as their New Years Resolution, I guarantee we´d notice a difference.
Wherever did that come from? now you´re putting words into my mouth. As regards the first paragraph, if that´s your reading of it, I can´t do much about it, but it wasn´t intended I can assure you.
Well Dave has true to form called outrage on RBF's behalf when I labelled him as self righteous but has no issues in using the "you write tripe" label. He then follows up by saying anyone that doesn't enjoy 1930's greeting card poetry is a philistine. Lecturing us that we shouldn't lable people whilst labeling people because we don't agree with him.
But what about at the ground itself? The first misplaced / underhit pass is greeted by 'tuts', the next by mutters, and the next by loud groans. Same on social media and, sadly for all of us, internet forums too. Society is too quick to pigeon-hole or stereotype others in this day and age, and we're no different. Which is why the article quoted in the OP is so valid - but alas, I think the author knows he's flogging a dead horse expecting everyone to comply with his well-meaning wishes
I´m not talking about the ground or anywhere else, I´m talking about here. I would have thought you as a mod would be all in favour of cutting it out.
Yes over zealous moderating where disliking poetry is classed as a hate crime , can't see any issues with that. Maybe anyone that doesn't post a rose under your work should receive an instant banning order.
It would definitely catch on if Cromer had his way, he makes it painfully obvious what he thinks of me!
DD, I was using the term Philistine in its literal sense, nothing to do with "Christmas card" poetry!
Just one final question. However did you end up becoming a moderator with views like that? Surely everyone ought to be welcome on here. Surely all views and opinions ought to be welcome on here. Surely all styles and ways of expressing oneself ought to be welcome on here, and perhaps most importantly of all, surely a moderator has to be seen to be 100% fair towards all posters, with no hint of prejudice either for or against a particular writer or a particular writing style. I´m sorry, but I think you fail miserably, especially in the last category, and more often than not, you add fuel to the already simmering fire. Just my opinion - oh and I did see the wink, but that still hardly excuses the lines above.
Views like what? I said " - we're none of us 100% squeaky clean in that regard" (pigeon-holing / bracketing / making assumptions about others based on their views on this forum, etc) None = me, Donuts, you, canary dave, etc etc. Take a chill pill and get used to the fact that not everyone tugs their forelock or writes bleedin' epithets at every decision our board of directors make! Edit: Had my predecessor still been involved then Donuts and I would have been banished ages ago - mainly for having the audacity not to toe the corporate NCFC boardroom line, which you and he back to the hilt. Sorry, but I call things as I see or find them, not live in some Utopian dreamworld.
There seems to be way more harmony on these boards since Cromer started moderating. I don't recall him or the other staff members having to ban anyone and the only posters that are constantly looking for things to be offended about are Dave and RBF. If Dave was still mod he would have tried to keep me permanently banned based on the last few years .
What a selective memory you have, I was a moderator when you begged to be allowed back which Maestro and I sanctioned!
I don´t need a ´chill pill´, as you put it, I´m perfectly calm, you seemed to be the one who was getting a bit hot under the collar. Anyway, I don´t expect anything to change on here, in the slightest, but at least I made the point I wanted to make, and perfectly clearly. That´s the end of it as far as I´m concerned.
