Could it be the Year of the Cockerel again? I remember a bloke bringing a cockerel to our cup ties in '81. He threw it on the pitch before the match against Exeter, I seem to remember. I remember seeing him at Wembley - being placed into the back of a Black Maria. Him and his cockerel. In response to the copper telling him "You can't take livestock in there" I heard the unforgettable line - "But he hasn't missed a cup tie all season." Maybe I'd had too much to drink?
Centre-half and centre-forward, probably. Maybe just two centre-backs, even. Carter-Vickers could do with going out on loan and learning his trade by playing every week.
I haven't started properly, yet, Roo! Bizarrely, I've had a handful of wumster Leicester City fans trying to take the piss (up until the final whistle, of course), acting more Mouser than real Mousers!
That confirmed a few things we pretty much knew already - but highlighted a couple of other concerns, not the least of which was why it took Poch 60 minutes to sub Glad for Janssen and pleased we're through, but gutted for Wycombe. They deserved a replay and the cash injection that would bring.
Very concerned about the CB situation. Wimmer looks a shadow of the Vertonghen-replacement we saw last year and CCV is certainly not ready yet. He and Onomah should be out on loan asap and we should be looking at a couple of experienced loanees to come in if they were available. Although still holding out for Isco.....
In fairness to Wimmer, last week he played city and was rusty, this week he faced the Incredible Hulk. Can we give him at least 1 more game? I don't see Onomah ever making it at Spurs. There's players that are a similar age who have already excelled and taken their chance. He's done very little in a long time now. I just can't work out what he offers. A game against Wycombe should be the perfect match for him, yet he was anonymous.
I don't think that Onomah's ever used where he should be for the first team, to be honest. Whenever I've seen him play, which admittedly isn't that much, he seems to do better coming from deep. We always play him either wide or in a more advanced role. I'd say the same for Sissoko.
Ok - one more!! Lol Such a shame that when they are rightly getting all the plaudits and sympathies, Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth goes and spoils it. "The last 10 minutes, I don't know where to start. It was after time, there was a penalty I thought was not a penalty. No, Gareth - the goal was at 5.59 of 6 mins overtime and it was a very clear penalty. Your lads were excellent and deserved a draw but don't go all Dumpf 'alternate truth' on us
CCV is not ready for the first team bench. Needs to be loaned out to a PL team to get some games....looks too big and slow to me.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BBC Sport: "That is the FA Cup. Every time we play in it, anything can happen. "Wycombe played very, very well in the first half." "In the second half we increased our level and pushed a bit and I think we played better than them but in football you need some luck and with the last chance we scored and won." "Full credit to Wycombe they played very well. Congratulations to them because they were heroes." Couldn't agree more. Glad he gave them credit and didn't make excuses.
"Gareth, mate. Be thankful that Poch did you a massive favour by giving you the opportunity to let your league two boys shine. Had he decided to play his best 11 available players from the start, we'd have embarrassed you. Now, we won't mention that little fact, if you give up with all the hard-luck bollocks. Okay, pal? Sorted."
I'm missing something here.Am I the only one pulling my hair out watching the Spurs "reserves" again?
From what I can gather from our official Twitter, more Chav fans were watching our match than their match with Brentford. I can understand why, given they handed starts to deadwood such as Terry, Fabregas, Pedro, Willian, Azpilcueta and Zouma, while bringing on up-and-comers Ivanovic and Costa for their full debuts...
As a massive spurs fan and and a proud wycombe fan I am pleased spurs we nt through although my home town club deserved a replay.my worries are the same as most of us spurs fans today's game highlighted a few deficiencies in the back up squad ccv needs to go out on loan onomah doesn't look good enough to wear the shirt and as for janssen he has had enough chances this season and just hasn't got it in my opinion. For me a very entertaining game shame wycombe couldn't hold on for a replay cos the money would have come in handy but on the other hand I think they have 8 games to play in February and are one game away from Wembley in the micky mouse cup but the priority this season has to be promotion. First game in seventeen that they have lost and it took spurs to do that so near to beating spurs at the lane and no one has done that this season so all in all a great effort .I just hope potch realises that we have some players at the lane that are clearly not good enough and need moving on .COYS
