What are you suggesting? If we get invested in by the Chinese and become successful you will stop caring and turning up?
The only principle I have is that I support Saints, so I will stand by my principle. Didn't see people getting all principled when billionaire Markus Liebherr and his Swiss Italian financier bank rolled the club.
A little different between a well known (well the brand) Swiss businessman and a made up Chinese "property" company designed to launder Chinese government money out the country into Europe for when their economy crashes
Is that fact? What do you think the Liebherrs would think of that? And if true, will you cease being a Saints fan?
and Portsmouth! (this may have been posted before) http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/44922/
Morality on one side of the scales and my love of SFC on the other. Very one-sided for me. I've been good all my life.....time to see what sin is like.
I must say there's never enough thank you's for Markus but if a partnership with Lander keeps us competitive then I'm happy, don't get me wrong I'm not sure I'd ever be happy doing a Man City, but spending 14-20mill nowadays for a player is chicken feed,so what I'm trying to say if an investment from the Chinese helps with our future then that's the way it's gone. Personally I'd be happy to be competitive at 6th-10th with cup runs, certainly don't want to sell our soul to the devil.
Been watching and reading a fair amount about the Chinese economy recently and things don't add up but with difficult access to standard basic business information by design of the Chinese government there are a lot of people far better informed than me very concerned at the real state of their economy rather than the reported figures. Living up in the Midlands now, I am amazed in the huge volume of Chinese investment and not just in the football clubs (Birmingham, Villa, Wolves & WBA). I have struggled to find many logical explanations but one or two less complimentary ones. The experts may be wrong or just rather pessimistic about their intentions but it just makes me nervous when it involves my (our) beloved Saints
Look we all know that Chelsea Man City etc etc would be no where near where they are now without outside investment,Sky for me has ruined football now but that's another story. If Saints can improve their status in English football then why not? Don't want to be left behind. Having said that I did like the league 1 days......sorry,proper football proper teams
Ref your first paragraph you're correct but that's certainly not new,not sure how they keep managing it!
There was an article that I think was posted earlier in this thread about the Chinese using social investment, like a football club to assist in achieving larger contracts. It used the HS2 construction as an example of a big contract that the Chinese would like to pursue. I guess the football boardrooms are like networking at the odd gentlemans clubs.
