Agreed both candidates were poor. Clinton is "the establishment" and would have maintained the status quo as much as possible. However Drumpf has sold himself to the religious fascists on the one hand and on the other he is already proving to be a dangerous, petulant, megalomaniac. It's one thing to react against SJW's but quite another to elect into power a dictatorial government with NO respect for women's rights, NO respect for non-heterosexuals, NO respect for social welfare, NO respect for the environment, NO respect for their neighbours, NO respect for ethnic minority groups (even the White House web-site has removed the Spanish translation) and NOT a care providing an affordable healthcare package for the people. A government formed of racist (from casual to outright), bigoted, self centred and uncaring multi-millionaires. They are SCUM.

Interesting to see that while Trump wants all NATO partners to increase funding, the MOD is being told it must make savings of £5.6 billion. Costs of new hardware have been increasing as the value of the pound fell against the dollar with much of the material coming in from the USA.
How you can write that bewilders me. It is worthy of another poster perhaps but is not what I remember the way you used to post. TM is not remotely comparable to Trump and anyone who thinks she is needs to examine facts and policies. The Tories may not be your cup of tea (I may be wrong on that) but they represent an honest and ongoing tradition in this country of people who believe that help for social causes comes from a successful economy and is destroyed by people who would give to any cause that seems worthy with little question and who have not the economic competence to pay for it. I have no time for people who call others scum in such a casual manner. I bet that even many on here who do not support right wing views would halt well before such a description.

I would not call any politician scum no matter how much I disagreed with them. I would also agree that you have to earn money before you can spend it. I think that where we might part however Leo is when I see the most disadvantaged picking up the largest bill. This is where a government has to make choices. Do they try to boost earnings for the country while looking after the poorest, or should they simply go for growth in the economy? In the past the Tory one nation MPs did recognize that they were responsible for the whole population, yet the fact that the new breed have not, is responsible in my view for the way that some felt left behind and voted as they did in the referendum.
