Astonishingly McManus has declared both his Juvenile stars tomorrow Defi Du Seuil & Charli Parcs. Geraghty chooses CP with Johnson on the other. My guess would be that this is to sort out the pecking order and perhaps push 1 of these to the Supreme, with that looking so open this year. Defi Du Seuil for me.

Fascinating race isn't it, potential versus course form. Hope it's a real ding dong battle.

The betting thinks CP is the supreme horse and DFS is the Triumph! But pricewise did pick CP for the supreme so that could be the factor in that!

What the bally blinkin’ ‘eck are those old rogues, the Pipe’s, up to now?!? I’ve just seen the entries for tomorrow’s 12.35 heat (20.5 furlong novice handicap chase), at the venue I hold close to my heart, Cheltenham, and for a few moments wondered if the steward had forgotten to put the T in my lunchtime GnT and I was seeing things.

Last time out Champers on Ice stayed on in resolute and eye-catching fashion over 3 miles in such a manner that screamed ‘stayer’ all day long. Yet tomorrow they drop him in trip by almost half a mile! Anyone got any thoughts on this?!?

My own are that they will merely be looking to giving him a quiet spin round, drop his perching a few pounds and also qualify him to run (just by stepping over the start line) in some major end of term handicaps (including possibly the Grand National for which he will qualify by running of the morrow). I really rate and love Champers On Ice (and I’ve similar sentiments re the horse of the same name) but wouldn’t back him tomorrow with someone else’s money. One to watch and get on re his real target, methinks.

Meanwhile, even if they did think tomorrow was his ideal race there is no way that they would potentially blow his handicap mark apart for a 1st prize of just £15k.

Cole harden e/w in the Cleeve - keeps the blinkers on, good-soft and at 20/1 makes more appeal as a betting proposition than the EVS jolly

Can I raise a conspiracy theory re Cole Harden?!? His perch has fallen to 152 (from a peak of 164). He will be given a gentle race tomorrow and get a further perchings reduction in the process. He will then go to the Festival and scoot up in a handicap. Is that possible?!?

I guess he isn't qualified for the Pertemps (which would be the right trip) - Coral Cup might be on the short side for him?

Do we think the winner of the JP juvenile match up goes Supreme, yeah? As tomorrow's fav is the shorter for the Triumph market out of the pair

Logic surely be the best one goes Supreme?

Most deffo but if he falls a few more pounds he becomes most interesting in a handicap. Coral Cup, I would have thought, a possibility should connections be that way inclined.

Seems very similar to the path they gave Un Temps Pour Tout last year before he scooted up at the festival last year - I think the exactly same connections fancy a second win in the the 2 years in a row!!

Big stat re tomorrow’s racing is that no favourite has won the ‘Cotswold Chase’ since 1999. Amazing that given that some very good animals have tried. Long odds-on, of course, that trend will be smashed of the morrow.

The bets for me at Cheltenham, of the morrow, would be WILLIAM HENRY (3.25) and MAX DU BRAZIL in the ‘lucky last’ (4.35). The former had been dogged by injuries for a good while but now back to full fitness he has looked a horse of immense promise this term. Tomorrow he gets asked a serious question and I think William Henry will answer it most emphatically. The latter looks another horse those old rogues, the Pipe’s, are up to something with. Makes his UK debut here but last time out, across The Channel, finished runner-up in a decent Listed heat. As a result the handicapper may have taken quite a risk in allocating Max Du Brazil just 128. Especially if the ‘magic fridge’ is deployed.

Meanwhile, ‘ooooooooooooooooooooooop’ at Donny by ‘eck I like look of GIVE ME A COPPER (1.25). An easy winner of both his bumper and maiden hurdle tomorrow he looks more than capable of taking the step up to Grade 2 company in his stride. I’ll go to foot of stairs if this one don’t oblige.

Have a good weekend and good luck, crew.

I was just thinking the same mate - is this one of those dodgy races where the "lesser-fancied" of the McManus hoses up? I was gobsmacked to see Charlie Parcs odds-on and shortening - is that just because Geraghty is riding or what? Defi all day for me, lovely prices knocking around at the moment. Feels like some accas with Ivan Grozny, Thistlecrack, Unowhatimeanharry ..................

Lads, only one of the Mcmanus pair will run.

"Charli Parcs and Defi Du Seuil, principals for the JCB Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, have been declared to clash in the Grade 2 trial on Saturday's card, which is registered as the Finesse.

JP McManus owns the pair and his racing manager Frank Berry said on Friday morning: "At the moment Charli Parcs is a definite runner. Defi would only run if the ground becomes very heavy, in which case it's possible Charli Parcs wouldn't run. Nothing is set in stone, though."

Charli Parcs is 4/6 because he is the intended runner. Barring rain, Defi won't be there.

Brings the sport into disrepute in my book if that's the case.
