New Jersey, USA It may not be bernies dream of a NY street race but this plan has the back drop of the Manhatten skyline. The mayors of Weehawken and West New York, N.J., said Tuesday that they are in early stages of talks with a group of investors led by Leo Hindery Jr., a former chief executive of the YES Network, to bring an F1 event to the area as soon as 2013. This race if approved will join the already added Austin US GP onto the calandar as F1 is making a big push into north american Markets. Mexico Mexico is working on reviving the mexican GP which hasnt been on the F1 Circuit for 20 years or so. The race will also be staged at the last venue, The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. F1 in Mexico is ever growing with the inclusion of Mexican drivers Perez and Gutierrez. And also big inverstment from mexican telecoms company TELMEX. This race would fit in nicely with the US GP in Austin Texas. Turkey So Turkey has been dropped from the calandar in 2012....or has it? Rumours have it that bernie is negotiating to have arguably Tilke's best designed circuit in Istanbul included into a record breaking 21 race series in 2012. Bernie may also invest in doing it right this time and may create the logistics of the race date around the middle eastern Grand Prixs. Also to get F1 more popular all over the region. Argentina Another old race has been mooted to return to the F1 picture. Populous, The architects behind the silverstone new layout and new pits, have won a bid to develop an FIA Grade 1 circuit in Argentina, which would be capable of holding F1 and Moto GP races. The Velociudad Argentina circuit will be built in Zarate, close to the capital city Buenos Aires and will hopefully be paired up with its old Latin america chum the Brazilian GP. Goa, India Even though India has won the rights to hold its first GP later this year, plans are afoot for a second GP outing in the region of Goa in very near future. Local government is trying to build a circuit in the sea, inspired by the street circuit of Montecarlo. The initiative goes on, with big ambitions. Is at the heart of the desire to improve tourism in the region. This all depends on how bad India catches the F1 Bug! Beijing, China Probably not the most enthusiastic country to ever hold an F1 race oddly china is looking to expand and create another F1 circuit this time in the capital Beijing. Qatar Qatar becoming one of the major sports countries in the world is looking to hold an F1 race very soon. The have won the rights to hold the world cup which will put them majorly on the map and already have a track with a good reputation in motorsport where it holds Moto GP at the state of the art Losail circuit (where it holds night races). Dubai, UAE Dubai was the forefront of motor sports in the emerates region but its thunder has been stollen by first Bahrain and then Abu dubai which have held rather dull races but a true circuit in the middle east is found in Dubai. It will be a matter of time before it holds its first F1 race here.
Would like to see Mexico, Argentina to show that this is a world championship. But the water circuit sounds cool!
Well, I know what you're getting at but there is no other motor racing series which travels so far and visits *every continent. But obviously a few more in the Americas wouldn't hurt. *There's only one continent presently untouched by F1: Antarctica! - Ice racing anyone? OK, I'll get me overcoat…
Didn't Nick Heidfeld once do something along those lines? I'll have a look EDIT:
i've heard that that south africa is trying to organize a street race in cape town. hope it works cos there are no african races on the World Championship!
To be honest I do not really care that much where races are as long as the track is decent. EDIT: Actually I do not really believe that, I think at some tracks the location can offer something to it. EDIT pt.2: I know I post this on every thread about possible future races but I hope they go to Circuito Potrero de los Funes in Argentina. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image I would also love a race in or next to Manhattan.
Wow that looks amazing, i've never heard of it before, but it seems like one of the old-fashioned tracks with so much more to offer f1 that's so much about the driving spectacle, but that's why it will never be on the calendar..
I'd like to see them race at Mount Panorama (Bathurst). You want scenery, thats a great track for it. please log in to view this image
Another one to chuck into the rumour mill is Norway, where Tilke recently overhauled the Rudskogen Motorpark, due to be completed this year. Whilst I have no idea if the track is aiming to be FIA standard or not, it is very southern in Norway, giving an extra 8 weeks of the year where racing is possible.
It's true, it's absolutely fantastic. i've always wondered why they don't race there, appaarently it's for safety reasons. But surely if Monaco and Singapore are safe enough, you'd think Bathurst would be.
France, yes they need a new circuit. I found the Magny Cours on (last raced in 08) quite boring and no real overtaking places. Africa of course because they dont have a race at all on the calendar. Argentina to add to the Americas Grand Prix's
lol, Bathurst would be awesome, but I think the track is so bumpy and has such strange cambers, especially on the straights, that a horrific accident would be bound to happen in an F1 race. Think of the bump outside the tunnel of Monaco and multiply that by 10. Love to see Mexico back, that was a great track. As to sth Africa, it's the only country in Africa that could possibly hold an F1 race, the rest of the continent seems to be either a warzone, or about to be one.
I was so happy that i got to go see that. It was epic going through the dipper. Sadly the only way they'll THINK about putting Bathurst on the calendar is when (and if) Albert Park goes. shame... JB said that if the track was a bit more rubbered in he may have gotten into the low 1:40s
that's a car on an empty track, the back straight (possibly the only place to overtake) is too narrow, and take a look at the shape of the track off-line, adverse camber all over the place, overtaking in an open-wheel car would be taking your life in your hands, which is why they don't race them there anymore, too dangerous, i think the last one was in the early 70's. That isn't to say I wouldn't like to see it, but I'd also like to see the whole nordschliffe circuit, Imola and all the other banned for safety reason tracks return. I'd also like to see an F1 race in Macao.
