Just seen that interview, it's embarrassing for him & even moreso for the journalists who didn't call him out for being an ungracious ****.
'As the game went on'? He took about 2 minutes to 'get up to speed' I thought he looked really good and his vision for passes, and the ability to make the passes, was...hugely promising
Yes tough days at the office but not on the scale and duration of Docs Red Army Forest 76 Sheff wed 75 Sunderland most times in the 70s
Versatile was Cagney. Did a brilliant turn in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. I remember Parkinson, who was beside himself with excitement as it was only the second television interview Cagney had done, asking him why he didn't do any more Shakesoeare and he just shrugged and said he had done it once and why not do something different. Talking of Jolson, my grandpa once told me Jolson had such a powerful voice you could hear it resonating through the brickwork. I thought he was making things up as Jolson had never performed here. After WW2 he had got up on the stage at the London Palladium and cracked a few jokes but declined to sing and said that he was only interested in firsts and other Americans had beaten him to it. Then, after my grandad died I read in a book how Jolson was in Glasgow in WW1 and had stopped the traffic. On police advice he moved into a hall where he proceeded to sing and entertain the crowds. Now, the thing is, my grandpa was one of those who joined up, got to France and was found to be underage(they can't have looked too carefully as he wasn't even 5' when an adult). Anyway he was sent back and sent for retraining as a baker. And where was he sent? Glasgow. So maybe he wasn't romanticising. I found out from my grandma, which explained why he wouldn't wear a poppy, which was for the Earl Haig fund, that when he was sent back he was recommended for a medal, m the MM, I think, forgoing out and dragging some wounded back to the lines. It was turned down by Haig who wrote back to his CO that he was not going to hand out medals to bakers. We all make the mistake of looking at older folk and thinking they know less about life than we do.
Amen to that. Maloney was outstanding tonight quick feet, calm on the ball, neat passing. Enjoyed his performance.
Well, I wasn't bothered as much at the Man Utd game as I was at some against Sunderland, Boro and others. But I was 24 when Man Utd came. There were far less ejections and arrests at that game than a whole host of others in some previous years.
I can't copy the vid link but here's the gist of it. http://metro.co.uk/2017/01/26/jose-...eat-to-hull-city-were-still-unbeaten-6409180/ ‘We didn’t lose. It was 1-1. I only saw two goals,’ said Mourinho. ‘I saw Pogba’s goal and their goal – fantastic goal, great action, great cross and the guy at the far post coming. 1-1 – we’re still unbeaten. Asked why he didn’t count the first goal, Mourinho replied: ‘I didn’t see.
I think the spirit shown from the players this season has been on a par with the spirit of 82 and the Great Escape team of Warren J. Magnificent and I have to say slightly unexpected. Every player steps up to the plate, despite all the **** off the pitch, the disruption, the chaos, the utter lack of direction of the club...they stick at it and hang in there. Can't praise the character of the group highly enough, not many teams would show the resilience our lot have. ****ing delighted with em.
The one goal would be our second then as theirs wasn't a penalty if ourscwasn wasn wasn't. 1-0 to the Hull City.
