Talking of Yankee Doodle, an excuse to show what a versatile performer James Cagney was. Love the dancing at the end. Al Jolson wanted Cagney to play him in the film about him as he reckon Cagney copied his dancing style off him but Cagney turned it down as he didn't want to do another musical.

Love this bit at the end of that film. People like Cagney were all rounders. Couldn't imagine any actors nowadays with his all round versatility.

Well anyone that isn't puffing their chests out with pride needs a slap after that .. before the game I saw the team and thought MS had lost the plot or was making a statement to the Allams .. but this fella can turn **** into gold .. Marshall .. outstanding save to deny the big fella .. Meyler actually passing to our players .. the young kids coming in and playing with a freedom that belies their ages .. Thudd again showing a masterclass of passing and ball retention .. Niasse suddenly turns into a player .. Dio stays on his feet for longer then Aluko .. and we beat manure for the first time since 1974 .. anyone not feeling positive ? Top effort lads I'm one proud fan here and ty for the memory of this night

I'm pleased as I have seen City beat Manchester U at OT. It's only happened once in any competition. Just want to see it done again- I am running out of years!

For me I just wanted a good performance, when I saw the team i gulped but I've no idea why, brilliant display. I loved that little run into the box by our... wait a minute...ah yes..17 year old on £160 a week left back... and he's a local lad... Bowen did ok also... that's two kids that combined get paid less a week than some of those prima ****ing donnas get paid an hour...or so...well done lads.. proud to be a city supporter..

I've never got the lack of love for Maloney; he can play a part but it has to be right for him. Too many of players have been misused.

Incredible stuff that. Not only beating them on the night with more shots on and off target than them, but more possession and even passes. Against Man United at full strength. With a weakened team. Amazing stats.

It isn't ****, Ben, it is just stuff. As you get older you look at more things. You suddenly find there was actually a meaning behind something you previously thought was meaningless.

Enjoy Newcastle Packet? Years since I was in there.

A month or so ago I'd accepted relegation , I'd dealt with it emotionally and was resigned to the champo next year. Now this Silva fella comes along, everyone's playing like pele, we're unbeaten at home and attacking and retaining the ball and he fills me with all this hope that in spite of the ******ed owners that we may survive, what a twat.

Was thinking tonight of that day 42 years ago.

Waggy's last ever goal for us? Certainly a cameo goal toying with their defence at the North stand end before administering the last rites to Stepney, Houston and Holton.
The maddest football day ever in this city- nothing will ever beat it. 23,000 fans, not all ticket, game not even on tv.
Then, as now, MUFC followed by the dregs of England (and Scotland),
Seemed inconceivable that we could one day play a semi final against them with only 16,000 people present.

Jolson Sings & Jolson Sings Again (think that what they were called) are a couple of my old man's favourites. Larry Parks I believe did the acting & miming.

Cagney & Bogart were in one of my favourites, Angels With Dirty Faces. Great Film.

Niasse is looking very good to me. Does the odd donkey move but generally seems quick, strong, direct - promising signs.

We just beat Manchester United in the semi final of a cup and The atmosphere was ****e from the start , and barely any applause at the end , it's a weird club to support at the moment , I know the reasons but those players on the pitch deserve better

Was dreading watching when I saw the teamsheet but my god didn' they do well. Maloney was good and I would like to see him play more often. Bowen and Tymon were not fazed at all. Overall feel much more optimistic about the rest of the season, and you know what, I think we might even get better crowds at the KC now cos people will want to come and watch this team. Forget Ehab for a while and lets just give the players our backing and get through this season and stay up.

I meant **** in a good way. It's how the young uns speak.

I find myself increasingly spending more time on google & wiki educating myself on things Ivpreviously thought irrelevant. I like it.
