The only reason Arsenal have had succes under Wegner is due to the previous manager's buys..Adams,Seaman,Keown,Dixon and Winterburn would never have been signed with Wegner in charge.

they'll finish 6th at best..teams have worked them out, two banks of 4 no more than 10 yards apart protecting the 18yard line. Keep it narrow, keep it tight.

I tend to think a bit more clearly when I'm at home.

I think Arsenal is an interesting one. It looks like Fabregas is going now which means they could really suffer but when Henry left I think they actually got better and the younger players seemed to step up. If Fabregas and Nasri do go, then they may take a couple of years to recover, or players like Ramsay & Wilshire could really step up. I do think that if RVP gets injurd then they could strugle for goals.

They are by far the most vulnerable out of last year's top 4 and comparing the form of us and them at the end of last year (where they managed to come 4th in a 2 horse race for the title and drop out of every competition within 3 weeks) then I think most pundits would be stupid not to suggest we may finish above them.

I do quite like Arsenal though and know a few Gunners fans so wouldn't mind if they came 4th, with City coming 5th

I've always believed that if you stand still, you get left behind. It happened to us in 2009, why shouldn't it happen to anyone else. In 2009 instead of going forwards with adding that little bit extra to make the final push....we went backwards. We're still recovering from it. Although I don't think we are far away from our 2009 level squad wise. I believe we are two players short of our 2009 level squad wise, and those are in the obvious positions which at this stage don't need to be spelt out.
I also believe we are at the most five players short of being champions. Possibly 4.

Really??? The last time they won a trophy Henry was still an arsenal player and they have finished 4th more often then not since he has left (never higher then 3rd)

i will just make a couple of points.

    1. had mr mcnulty written that we took 4th from say... city then it would be city fans being irate. in other words if you see your club getting dropped out of what you see as your own divine right to 4th of course you will targe tthe club predicted to replace you.

    2. we all have a different veiw of other teams players... i simply laughed when reading the arsenal fan who claimed he would prefer their forward line of the ever fragile RVP, the flop of arshavin and the truely unproven gervinho.

Writing off our players is fine, results are what counts.

    3. i think the point on team like city are well made. teams of stars are in fact only a loose group who at the first sign of trouble fall apart..... look at chelsea. scolari, anchelotti.... both times players just bascially went out of their way to get their manager sacked and very obviously. there was no pulling together as a team. I'm not saying city are or are not that way but on a dirty wet day in january i don't really see these "stars" playing. We'll see if kennys team has the work ethic and team work.

    4. Arsenal finas can get irate but in the end its a competitve league in which nobody owes anyone anything. When a press man wirtes something say he's wrong but don't come bashing my team end of story.... take yer lumps from the press and get on with it.

You could point the same finger at Liverpool players after say 3 months who decided that Hodgson wasn't up to the job due to his countless mistakes and the number of players he fell out with. He upset a minimum of 3 players. Agger,Johnson and Cole. Now these are strong voices in a dressing room, and obviously there is going to be un-rest. Pepe Reina was known on more on one occasion to be upset. I believe that if Liverpool had to remain managed by Hodgson the players would have not given 100%. They would have given up caring. The damage was done.

I find it funny that people can get so worked up about predictions as though they somehow influence events. Of course everyone is going to allow their own prejudices to colour what they think will happen, but none of it has the slightest effect on what does happen.
It's all just paper talk, as ever. Just designed to fill column inches and keep journos out of the pub for a bit.
