The Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park is as competitive as ever, but the value in the market is shocking - 134% best book according to oddschecker. The first 10 in the market between 6/1 and 10/1 - absolutely scandalous.
I think Prince Of Scars looks to be very well in off a mark of 140. He gets soft ground and looks as though handicaps where always the plan. I can't see Clondaw Warrior being beaten and he surely should be odds on. He's getting an extra five pounds off Snow Falcon after soundly beating him at leopardstown and looked to have the measure of Shaneshill before he fell.
After a fine 3rd in the Lincolnshire National on Boxing Day (3m 3f g/soft C3 Chase, handicap mark 117), former Scottish National winner Godsmejudge runs over hurdles at Warwick today (2.35) off a mark of just 108. At 11/2 he is just begging to be backed
2 divisions of the bumper at Warwick today stick - what is the Bumper King fancying? In the first leg I'll throw up Marble Mist at a huge price. By Martaline out of Karolina, who was owned by Robert Waley-Cohen and ran twice for Mr Henderson (the second being the Grade 2 Martell Novices Hurdle at Aintree). With a 7lb claimer on board I think he is worth an e/w poke with bits of 40/1 available. Connections could land an outrageous double with Free Friday in the last, by Oscar out of a mare who won a bumper on her debut. Those 2 very speculative, most likely winners are King Of Realms and Ballygown Bay.
2.25pm Gowran Park - Wood Breizh. Has run in better company than this today and will be better off after the run out at Leopardstown.
Odddy I like Puppet Master in div 1. Bumped into a smart one on debut but shaped really nicely and looked a sure fire future winner. If it were in another yard it would probably be fav! Ballygown Boy in div 2. Nice pedigree and they paid a fair whack for it. Supported for it today which speaks volumes.
mate I've done little e/w singles and double on the 2 Evan Williams horses but will have a saver on Ballygown Boy to get my stake back
That one was one of three I highlighted for this race. However, it is the shortest of the three. The other two were Mont Choisy and Delagany Demon. I'm on the latter for a BSP place only.
Very smart performance from Champagne West there. How much does that vindicate Roger Brookhouse's decision to move him from Hobbs to de Bromhead? Some transition in form from PFP to 311
