January is such a crap month..... we've only had the trouncing of last years champions, the 2 hard earned victories over Liverpool earning a trip to Wembley and the recent announcement of significant financial investment plus KL staying involved....
This disastrous month would be just about finished off with the signing of a new attacker and defender. Awful month...
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...-katharina-liebherr-assures-fan-chinese-sale/ A bit more information in this.
There's a poetic bookend to this too - Markus sitting at Wembley in the first season under the Liebherrs then Kat sitting there in what may be their last as full owners.
Not sure what you mean by "things like this". For me this is a pretty unprecedented situation. Lander Sports have publicly confirmed there's some sort of an agreement in place. That's quite a bit different to speculation about transfers or player/manager contracts or even newspaper reports claiming something has happened behind the scenes.
That is interesting....I thought when I read Katharina's letter that she was reacting to information released early. This may be due to Stock Market rules. Glad it doesn't represent a takeover as such....I would have been surprised with all the emotion attached to the opening of the Leihberr Pavilion.
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/southampton-reject-180m-takeover-bid-from-chinese-p86f7q8tj Sounds like a deal is nowhere near at the moment. (Unless you subscribe to the Times, which I don't, the story is short but gives the basics)
You've forgotten about 2 players signing extensions. I mean honestly, January just couldn't get worse...
Journalist Pete O'Rourke on Twitter: Southampton have rejected a £180m offer from Chinese property company Lander Sports Development to buy the club. #saintsfc
Journos trying to destabilise the club again I think. I'm taking Kat at her word. She wants to sell a share (may be controlling, may not), but retain an interest in the club. Whatever she does will be good for us. I believe her, and in the last few years have no reason to not trust her.
Get the feeling that the Chinese jumped the gun though, trying to jump on the positivity of getting to Wembley? Think this will not go through until the season is over.
And her statement suggests that she isn't looking to sell the club outright as she wants us to continue on our present path, but with an injection of cash to move us forwards.
