I've just re read the article. The Hamilton bit was the last paragraph originally. It's now moved up to the top end.
Looks like Liberty has done it.... http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/e...e-carey-has-replaced-him-as-ceo-of-f1-868019/ Lots of articles about it, but I chose this one because of the heartwarming... That's nice to hear. I was worried he might not have enough money to attend a race. Although it seems he might try to keep busy...
Ironical that he says he still has enough money to attend a race. Pity the fans don't. He is the major reason why ticket prices are so high.... Oh well, last year for watching F1 on TV in UK unless you want to pay another very rich co....
Well... it's about time Bernie was gone, it's long overdue. But I'm still undecided about the lot coming in though. I guess time will tell. Have Ross involved is a big plus though.
Although it was overdue - the sport has gone in the wrong direction in favour of pure turnover over quality of product and view figures have been falling as a result. However, fair play to Bernie. That's a long time in charge and a lot has changed under his tenure. He also one of the old gang - one of those still alive so it is quite sad in that respect. Also disappointing its now in American hands. It could either get far worse or get significantly better. Hopefully Ross has a big influence and makes some good decisions.
The noises Liberty are making sound positive. The big question is whether they can keep all their promises about improving the show, sorting out the inequalities and focussing on the big European races and still make the business work. Otherwise it falls on its arse.
Liberty believe Bernie may be planning a breakaway series to rival F1 as revenge and could be set up by 2019. The guy just wont let go will he
By my calculations he will be 88 in 2019. Unless he is Mumra the Ever Living I can't see how even he can carry on long enough.
Reports are that he is selling all but 0.5% of his shares in the new company for something like $28million! So looks like he is not happy.
