I dread to think what Trump thinks about talking about affairs. Sounds like another smart politician.

I think this says a lot about the level of political engagement in UK...

This shows up I think how people like Farage, Bojo and Gove, found the lowest common message that some could understand. Maybe it says something about the education system in England and Wales and how it has been for many years. My four children went to a primary school with a good old fashioned Scottish head, and they all went on later to get degrees having been educated to a decent level.

I'm glad you narrowed it down to England & Wales - I hesitated to, and mentioned UK even though I think people up here are far more politically switched on & involved than their counterparts down south.

As an outsider these days BB I can look at things with a different perspective. I could talk about the French education system, but don't have the time to start a new thread and SH seems slow to get one underway.

In the OECD Pisa International league tables France are similar to the UK in maths and reading but much worse at science. It would help the French students if the lecturers were not on strike so often.

Twice today you have clearly wished to talk about France SH. Just start your thread, and some of us will be happy to engage with it if it factually based.

I said if you read it again, that I don't have time to start a new thread. You seemingly do have time to, so do it.

No, we can manage to include the performances of the Euro countries within this thread or the political one. There is great crossover of interest.

My three children I brought back to the UK for a good Scottish education and we were fortunate that they received it before the regressive dumbing down that's part of the assembly agenda to bring about their seperatist dream. The decline in standards has been very visible and backed by the latest statistical decline as indicated in world rankings. Its very very sad the way the SNP are killing Scotland as a land of beauty and quality. New Zealand beckons I fear which will play havoc with my Saturdays, even here in Houston might soon appear an attractive and positive move the way things are going, the incessant drivvle from the SNP using Brexit as another excuse to peddle lies and divisive rhetoric is making many sick at present. Help!!!!

Loved the "out, out " bit - reminded me of MIcky Flanaghan's brilliant sketch about going out out

As you know i am an ex head and worked in all schools and then 19 years in Higher Ed.

Our education system has been virtually ruined by meddling politicians of all persuasions.

Bandwagon Yorkie - get off mind your BP......

It used to be the Tories that were split on Europe, now they are almost united. On the other hand the Labour Party are in real trouble as Corbyn has imposed a three line whip to bar Labour MP's from blocking article 50, maybe a few more resignations.
    Is Corbyn a secret Tory?

One of the Labour front benchers has resigned, and in her letter said, “I have always been clear – I do not represent Westminster in Hampstead and Kilburn, I represent Hampstead and Kilburn in Westminster.” What a huge shame that others where there were large majorities to stay have not taken the same view. Among them are Diane Abbott, Kate Hoey and even Jeremy Corbyn. All Tories were elected on a manifesto of staying in the EU. For 40 years there has been a rump of right wingers who have been elected despite people knowing that did not agree with the party line. Maybe the moderate Tory MPs are starting to strike back as the agreement to produce a white paper only came about when a rebellion was threatened.

It is doubtful more than a few Tories will vote against evoking article 50. Only one, Ken Clark voted against the government's amendment to evoke it by end of March. Most of the Labour MP's will vote with the government so the bill should get through the commons quite easily.

Diane Abbott might be squirming a bit tonight on Question Time about the three line whip.
