Will be an interesting one to watch with Ighalo... The Chines transfer window closes around the 26th of Feb, so no rush to do the deal from their end... but if he hasn't gone by the time we have to register the squad, what do we do? Assume he is going to China and not register him? Do we risk registering him then he goes after, then that has taken up a spot in the squad where we are already struggling to fit everyone in; or not register at all, he doesn't leave, and he is stuck outside of the squad... Would imagine the Pozzos want to get this sorted quickly!
Looking at this, he's fairly versatile, although not a regular goalscorer. I can imagine him on one wing & Success on the other, bringing back the heady days of 1982/83...
Thanks for that BB Certainly looks a tricky player, who likes to attack a defender and has a bit of pace about him, albeit still looks a little raw. Definitely a good comparison with Success - although they both seem to be left-sided wingers/attackers... Those either side of Deeney might work though (Assuming Success can be fit for more than a couple of games at a time)
His wiki suggests both wings as well as attacking midfield - and he doesn't look to shirk the defensive side of things either, if that video is anything to go by. And he's already had the obligatory ACL injury, as well as car crash...
Am I alone (I doubt it) in thinking any player based in Italy is fair game for lazy journalists to link with Watford, irrespective of the veracity of the claim?
And an Italian football site is now suggesting that it's a done deal. On the subject of lazy journalist's claims - this one suggests we're looking to hi-jack Burnley's attempt to sign Robert Snodgrass... http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/01/25/trio-set-to-match-burnleys-bid-for-robert-snodgrass/
True, but this does feel more of a Pozzo-type signing (young, room for improvement, scope for a sell-on etc) than the Scott Hogan for £15m one. It's also come from Sky Italy, rather than over here, so not sure what they are like for rumours/gossip The player has previously been linked with Arsenal, so could be just the agent getting a rumour out there to encourage bids from other (bigger) teams... but considering it's only a loan to start with, would be in their best interests to see how he will do for the rest of the season at us then can always buy in the summer
Thanks all for all the info; rumours or not. Don't have time myself to hunt these things down so it is appreciated. Must admit I'm a bit surprised how active we appear to be in the marketplace. All bodes well for the future as it gives the impression of a very ambitious club and that might make joining us a more attractive deal for the younger more ambitious players. Clearly the Pozzos know their business but I just hope they give WM a chance and don't just go for another change just when things might be turning a corner. I'm not sure we would have been in a poorer table position with Flores.
Joking aside The Mirror is running a poll asking "will he go to China" now every one of you has to go and vote
Niang and Snodgrass would be great signings, a young pacey striker and a winger that can cross. Get them signed Pozzos!!!
deals flying in, good news, can only give other options and give our current strikers "motivation" to fight for their place...
agreed, Troy seems to have lost a bit of motivation since his reported £100K a week deal. It must affect them, remember how Chalobah was effected after his money was raised to £30k a week at 17, nice to see him resurrect his career recently. I was at Leicester when he scored from that fantastic long range strike, Schmeichel harding moved as it past him.
