Decided to do it for each team... QPR Best Signing - DJ Campbell, personally don't think a one season wonder but we'll have to wait and see. Worst Signing - Keiron Dyer, harsh to give him worst signing but he probably was out of the people we've signed, would of been gabbidon but due to how desperate we needed a defender its not Old Boy - Faurlin Swansea Best Signing - Danny Graham, big fan. Worst Signing - Leroy Lita - don't rate, last season in prem = 1 goal Old Boy - Nathan Dyer, think he will do better than Sinclair Norwich Best Signing - Kyle Naughton, good for both club and player Worst Signing - James Vaughan, never reached potential, could still but doubt it Old Boy - Simeon Jackson, reckon he'll come very good.
She Bu Sid- I totally agree that Kyle Naughton is a great signing! Can't wait to see him at Carrow Rd! I'm surprised that you don't rate Lita- from what we saw of him on loan here he seemed a good player.
I thought I'd do it for each team too. QPR Best Signing - DJ Campbell - Good solid forward. Not the best in the world but he knows it, works hard, and is gifted enough to always plunder a few goals. Worst Signing - Keiron Dyer - He'll be injured by October. Old Boy - Faurlin- Excellent player who should make the step up with ease. I'm not just copying! It's just that's who I think fit the categories best. Norwich Best Signing - Kyle Naughton - I expect him to shine this year...he's very similar to our right back Angel Rangel. Worst Signing - Steve Morrison- I think he'll struggle to make the step up. Old Boy - Wes Hoolahan - Always liked the guy and I'm glad he's getting a shot at the Premiership. Swansea Best Signing - Danny Graham - Hopefully Worst Signing - Hmm... difficult one but you'd probably lump for Donelley or Ryan Harley... unless they really step up in training it'll be almost impossible for them to force their way into the team. They hardly cost anything (in "Premiership terms") at least... Old Boy - Angel Rangel/Nathan Dyer - They just keep building a better and better understanding, and some of the interplay is just awesome. I expect a lot of goals to come via the right hand side this year.
Best - DJ Campbell. Cases can be made for Graham, Bothroyd, even Routledge but Campbell is the one with the recent successful track record at this level. Has to be added though that is we get Vorm this week he could be the most important signing of all. Worst - Steve Morison - Very hard to do this as most are questionable rather than bad at the moment. Dyer could do well or could break his leg 2 minutes in. Lita could get goals or just piss off the coaches. Morison get's it though for several reasons, first I don't think he will ever be premier league quality and second he is likely to sit behind at least 3 other strikers (maybe 4) at Norwich. Kind of don't understand why they even went for him considering the options they already had. Old Boy - Ashley Williams. OK Taarabt, Sinclair, Dyer and co might get more headlines but Ash is going to be absolutely critical this season for us. He has the ability to step up it's just a question of whether he is ready to assume the role of chief in the backline on a full time basis.
Swansea only: Best signing: Vorm (if personal terms & medical are ok) Worst signing: Non really , but have my doubts about whether Lita is worth the money Old boy: Williams (will have to take charge of the defence if Monk & Tate are used more as squad players)
QPR Best-DJ Campbell, proven in the prem. Worst-Danny Gabbidon, The most desperate signing ever. Old boy- Faurlin, just quality, get him in your dream team Norwich Best-Kyle Naughton, Im really pissed off we didn't get him. Worst-James Vaughan, just not good enough. Old boy-Simeon Jackson, Very good player, should be able to cut it. Swansea Best-Danny Graham, another player i'm annoyed we didn't get. Worst-Leroy Lita, complete twat. Old boy- Nathan Dyer, quick and tricky winger.
Norwich Best signing :- Anthony Pilkington Worst Signing :- Bradley Johnson Old Boy :- Wes Hoolahan QPR Best Signing :- DJ Campbell Worst Signing :- Kieron Dyer Old boy :- Paddy Kenny Swansea Best Signing :- Danny Graham Worst Signing :- Tough one but people may find this a tad bizarre... Wayne Routledge Old boy :- Nathan Dyer OTBC Good luck to all 3 promoted sides over the coming season and hopefully we can all stay around for a while
I don't find it bizarre ichb, I think of him as a modern Darren Anderton! Enormous promise and early potential, then sliding into anonymous oblivion!
Well, when you look back at his career, EVERY club he has moved to in the prem he has failed at... Spurs villa newcastle, hes been on all there books yet he just seems to get loaned out to the championship after doing naff all at those clubs, he now has moved to swansea where he has competition against a much much better player in nathan dyer so i think anpther season of struggle for him to cut it in the prem!
Championship, dave. They played him on the wing though. For all Holt's talents, being a speedy winger isn't one!
You're quite right that he only has one successful season in the championship behind him, but he is on an upward trajectory... 08/09- League 2 (20+ goals) 09/10- League 1 (20+ goals) 10/11- Championship (20+ goals) 11/12- Premiership (??? goals)
QPR: Best signing - Jay Bothroyd, the type of forward we've needed for years, one who can worry defenders. Worst signing - Danny Gabbidon, West Ham's defence was a joke and Gabbidon played 26 games last season, enough said. Best old boy - Alessandro Faurlin, like all top players always seems to have time on the ball, watch him flourish in the PL. Norwich: Best signing - Kyle Naughton, so good we wanted him! Worst signing - James Vaughan, never impressed by him. Best old boy - Andrew Crofts, A real gem in the midfield. Swansea: Best signing - Danny Graham, league's top scorer in an average side. Worst signing - Wayne Routledge, the poor man's Scott Sinclair! Best old boy - Ferre Bodde, was the best midfielder in the Championship before his injury, if he's recovered he'll be in his element. Sad to say I think we're falling behind the two teams who came up with us. Best of luck to you all.
