Not wanting to tempt fate, but I've been really impressed with his discipline this season.
I don't know if it was an eagerness to impress when given the opportunity last season but he always seemed to pick up early bookings which could hamper a player of his style.
As a player who actually makes a tackle I think he has the balance of aggression and discipline pretty much nailed on.

 

He was much more of a bit part player last season too. Think consistently getting game time has helped a lot. He is basically a hybrid of Morgan and VW

I still think Virgil will go.

Though I'm fairly confident that with this, it will only be one this Summer. It would be nice if we could convince Virgil to give us another year though.

 

I'm so confident that I'll bet anyone on here 50p that he stays.

Very, very good news. He's been excellent this year. I'd like to see our midfield re-jigged in the summer with Romeu kept as a key component.

 

Yoshida and Romeu typify "the Southampton way for me". Hopefully a Maya deal is forthcoming!

 

No, I wildly celebrate every time we sign a player who already has signed for us. It's brilliant and as history has proven TIME AND TIME AGAIN, a guarantee that the player will stay those extra years of his contract and that the club will in no way cash in on him.

Whilst I could never quote Thatcher this is bloody great. I did that Southampton fan thing of celebrating in my kitchen*, when really I wanted to run up and down the street knocking on doors and shouting "****ing get in" at the top of my voice. Then I remembered I'd got a ticket for tomorrow night and would rather be at Anfield than in police custody.

But still "****ING GET IN!"

Let's face it - he's ****ing brilliant.
Where we used to play a pivot, he's a one man midfield army - especially when we underperform. Possibly our second best player for me behind VVD, level with Bertrand.
He'll probs be at Liverpool pretty soon so enjoy him for a season or two
