It's really not worth arguing over. For people to suggest heads are more dangerous because head injuries are worse is silly. Cahill shouldn't be blamed for what happened.

I asked the same question of a hospital radiographer today & he said it was "unlikely" that Mason would be able to play again as an outfield player.....

Unlike normal bone breaks the skull being made up of plates fused together they do not repair well & leave an intrinsic weakness

Not sure how these things work, but would a club ever get insurance cover to play a player who had suffered a fractured skull? If the answer to that is No, then Ryan's career could be over...Hope I am wrong.

His career could be over regardless of our insurance arrangements...

Sounds positive for him, seems to have pulled up well and it's on the minor end (according to reports I've seen) so who knows. At this stage just great to hear he's responsive and importantly has memories leading right up to the incident, that's incredibly lucky as it suggests very little mental incapcitation. A lot of head injuries lead to the sufferer having no memory leading up to the incident.

Radio 2 reporting he'll be ok to play again, but no idea where that came from

I know nothing about head injuries, but I'm pretty sure it's way too early to say either way. I'd imagine they won't know for another month minimum.

    I'd think the same
Just saying what was said (mind you they couldn't remember his name yesterday so not much hope of accuracy)

Louise Taylor has been doing some good reporting on Hull City this season. She appears to have a good grasp of what's going on, it sounds from
that she has had word from people itk. I thought the details around the kind of rehabilitation Ryan would face was interesting anyway.

To be fair she's just about the one national you see in every home game press conference.

I always remember her ripping Brownie's "I saved a suicidal woman on the Humber Bridge" story to shreds in a presser, when everyone else was just happy to swallow it. His face when she said she'd put a call in straight away to get the CCTV... <laugh>

It's entirely possible; Danny Seaborne suffered a fractured skull (much different circumstances...attacked at a nightclub) a few years ago while with Saints, which included blood clots on the brain and quite a bit of time on life support. He returned and continued on as a defender; still playing, actually, in the SPL.
