Conway, Taylor, Cowie, Gunnarsson, Mason, Earnshaw, Kiss, Gestede, Miller. Nine in so far and maybe more to come. Of the nine we know about, some are obviously going to play more often than others, but given the young ages of Mason and Gestede, their time will come - maybe even this season? So who of this current crop of new arrivals will have made the greatest impact on the side come next May? Maybe just a gut feeling you have from the brief bits we've seen so far? Wouldn't be a bad idea to give a reason on the thread along with just the name clicked on the poll.
Got to be Miller. He showed on Sunday that he can have a quiet game and then, bang - back of the net. He knows the division, the players, what the weather is like in Middlesboro on a wet and wild February evening. Should be the bargain of the season.
You've covered Mason and Gestede. Miller is proven and will get goals but I've got a feeling that Conway, once he's up to speed with the Championship will prove invaluable throughout the season
Hard to say with everyones performance so far but liked Taylor driving forward. I dont think our defence would like Gestede coming on as a sub. I find it hard to pick one because I am happy with each of them so far.
A lot of good judges said Kiss looked a class act and I've got a sneaking suspicion that MM may have unearthed a gem here, and apparently he's been tracking him for a while, but quite happy with what I've seen so far
Miller, because he's going to win the Championship top scorer award. I was plumping for Earnie to be our top scorer but have had a change of heart.
Must say I tend to agree Rhondda. Taylor on the pitch promises to be so much of an improvement over last season down the left side, he could easily have the greatest impact. How many goals did we concede from opposition right flank players through Naylor and Lloyd Samuel being mugged so often? McNuggets over there with Quinn looking after the right hand side would be an answer, but I'd much prefer the present set up. Dark horses?..........they may be second string right now, but how about young Mason or Gestede if they get a decent run of games through injuries?
I went for Rudy, not because I think he'll be player of the season or score more than Earnie or Miller. The big thing for me will be the option he gives us, either as impact from the bench as on Sunday or if MM wants a little and large combination from the start. Likely to be Miller and Earnie first choice but Rudy will give us something we've longed for, plan 'B'.
i said before he scored on sunday that miller would be an excellent signing. i'm really surprised that there wasnt a scramble with a host of other championship sides to sign him. he's not in the class of bellamy but he could prove to be just as effective. earnshaw? i dont know how he'll do. there is a reason notts forest released him, and although i think he will score goals, i dont think he'll get above 15 tbh.
I went for gestede. As someone said after the WH game, a vertical Bothroyd - - amazing. I think in the short time he was on he made a perfect nuicence of himself for the oppositon and he stayed on his feet. No one will want him coming off the bench at them specailly if the game is all square. Thats why I picked him, he could in many games make the difference in the last 20 minutes, and that means he'll always be there when the game is being won.
Hard to look past some already mentioned ie: Miller, Taylor, the promise of Gestade and Mason, the hero that is Earnshaw, havent seen enough of Kiss to give an opinion yet. Gunnarson i thought was good on sunday but the player i believe will make the biggest impact will be Cowie, thought the guy was outstanding on sunday for what he did without the ball always tracking back closing down and actually getting in the opponents box. Two headers on sunday one brought a good save from Green but even better was the one he cleared from our own box and out for a corner.
I've gone for Filip Kiss. A couple of Slovakian guys I know through work rate him very highly and reckon we have a real gem on our hands.
The thing I like about this is that we're all seeing positives right across the team rather than the few individuals of last year. Well done Malky View attachment 6381
Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! do ya do ya do ya do ya aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh
Hmmm.....very interesting - after a lot of hype at the time, no one has gone for our Earnie, the prodigal son. I hadn't voted up until now, though I agreed earlier in the thread with Rhondda that Taylor at LB will have a huge influence. I'm going for the longshot, the young lad from Plymouth that Ridsdale sold us for £250K. He's got a lot to learn, but if he gets a chance, I think he'll take it.
I think mason will have a big impact later on. Hugh potential and has already shown good sides. We're bound to get injuries and he will deliver this season.
