What a performance from Town! My natural pessimism was blown away in a terrific first half. It was never going to be quite so easy in the second half as the Derby players were clearly feeling humiliated as they trooped off at half-time, no doubt to receive the hair-dryer treatment from Nigel Clough. It was a complete mystery how we did not score more in the second half - we had three chances for their every one. Ainsworth completely destroyed their full-back - the last performance like that I saw from a Town player was when Chris Humphrey destroyed Dagenham on the way to the Play-offs. Amongst a whole set of terrific performances from Town players I must also give a special mention to Marvin Morgan for his fantastic work-rate - he never gave the Derby centrebacks a moment's peace. The only downers were the incredible decisions from the ref - we had two blatant penalties. I never usually subscribe to conspiracy theories but I am beginning to wonder why we are being awarded so few. Let's hope we can carry this form into our next few League games. Floreat Salopia!
That you're the very same Tinned Hats from Myddle who on another board has Wrexham down as his favourite team. Also, fellow Wrexham supporters have you down as having been a regular contributer. A coincidence?
the closest we got to manchester united is beating them 2-1 last month. i know the gas played mangotsfield utd, did you manage to beat them. you won't beat us on 13th september, that is if the police have opened your ground by then!!
Excellent performance last night I was proud to be a Town fan. Ainsworth, Morgan and Wroe were on fire and the rest were not far behind . First half Derby must of wandered what hit them, second half they livened up a bit but it was the Town that had more chances and at least we didn't get to see the Ben Davies kart wheel!!! The ground was great and so was the pitch and we had a nice Starbucks before kickoff all in all a night to remember for Town fans.
Always thought the rush by a few to knock him was both unjustified and premature - but that's b&a for you. I've always been positive and it seems to me he's becoming more influential with each game (and I've seen him 4 times now, allowing for friendlies). I'm sure that's because he's settling in and his fitness is improving. At Derby he was excellent, especially first half. He takes responsibility and looks for the ball, links the play, passes well, gets in some great tackles (another great block on Tuesday, showing his left back origins). I'll think we'll see some good dead ball delivery in time too. He doesn't have great pace and isn't the best in the air but who expects perfection? The main thing is his partnership with Wroe is showing great potential and could be exactly what we've been missing. Time will tell but early signs are very promising.
Richards had a far better game than he did on saturday and looked like he is finding his feet. Give him more time I think he will be a great signing.
right i know what you are talking about now! when i first come on here i was frapped by a fellow work colleague here at R.A.F Shawbury....he had my details, i have tried to delete my profile from that site but cant seem to do it....any ideas how to do it?
I think Turner might have made some great signings with Morgan, Hazel and Richards. Jacobson already looks great in friendlies and I am yet to see much of Gornell.
i have never fancied Morgan as a player, and ive seen him a few times, but to be fair he looked good against Derby
