Anybody else think this is a good idea to stop a riot? Make the police stand back and hope the trouble eventually "fizzles out."
Medro is that not what the ruc did for years when loyalists went on the rampage. Enlighten me, exactly how many plastic/rubber bullets were fired from 1981 to 1989 during loyalist rioting or diturbances in comparison to the the amount fired during nationlist/republican riots or disturbances. Also how many people of nationlist/catholic identity were killed with plastic bullets in comparison with those of a loyalist/protestent identity
Conservative Home Secretary Theresa May clearly doesn't consider NI a real part of Britain: "The way we police in Britain is not through use of water cannon. The way we police in Britain is through consent of communities." Interesting.
They could try and apologise to the rioters and take responsibility for causing it through their actions
Technically, she's right - if she'd said UK instead of Britain, she'd have been wrong. I noticed on BBC news that Cameron said that the watercanons were available only for the PSNI (who have all the watercanons) to say they have no plans to send them to the mainland
I heard him say earlier that water canons would be available in the GB within 24 hours. Fill the canons with a blue dye that doesn't wash off for months and then the police can nick all the twats in their own time.
I wonder if she would care to tell us in what way the community consented to the actions over the last 4 days. She should meet some of these guys in a dark alley and maybe they could pump her so hard that her head comes back out of her arsehole
We are not real Brits though. That's the point. Imagine a conservative minister coming out with that 20 years ago. Use the water canons on the Paddies but leave the real Brits alone. And Medro and his ilk still tug the forelock and beg for acceptance.
Incidentally, i see people are saying that the water cannon is too dangerous a weapon (I'm not criticising - just noticed they said it that's all). Surely the whole point of weapons is that they need to be dangerous. There's no point in the police turning up to riot scenes with feather dusters is there?
