How long before Tiote is banned? Hopefully this season he will understand we need him for more than 2/3 of the games.

You seem to forget what happened with his last ban, he came back and dominated Arsenal afterwards <whistle>

We should be aiming to beat those around us, any points against the top 4 is just a bonus.

Surely the teams around us will be the top 4?

I believe every team is beatable, maybe not Barce. :) Especially last season I reckon every team was beatable.

I agree with this man, who needs a holding midfielder against the bottom teams anyway? Just hoy 2 or 3 defenders on then every attacking player we have, including Shola for comedy value.

But to answer your question I reckon it will be in 10 games, the ref's just seemed to love booking him last year even if alot of them were deserved.

Anyway imagine if we didnt get them surprising results against the big clubs last season. I was always optimistic when we played Chelsea, Arsenal etc, as we were dropping more points against the "lesser" clubs.

We should be aiming to control games and win comfortably. It wont happen every week, but it's something we should be working towards even against 'Lesser' teams.

    Read above.

But you don't rely on the possibility of bonuses to pay your bills do you? I know its all hypothetical but if we didn't get the points off the bigger clubs around 10/11 points we would of been relegated. But if you expect us to beat the lesser clubs, than the big clubs should expect to beat us.

We should aim to win every game, as it's not impossible.

10 or less, the refs seemed to start booking him for little things like they do with Barton as he has now forged himself a reputation.

With some support at DM with Cabaye or Barton, and a better footballing CB behind him in Saylor, I feel he will get booked a bit less this season.

Yes, points against big teams kept us up last year, but we should be aiming to at least beat the teams around us like we couldn't last year. On our day we can beat any team in the league, but it's not possible to be like that every game. The new style of play should hopefully ensure that we go into every game with the possibility of at least a point against mid table/bottom of the league clubs.

I'm not saying we shouldn't go for it against the big teams, I just think beating those around us should be more of a priority as we stand a better chance of winning.

Not until after Christmas, unlike last season, we have good players who can play his role (Cabaye/Gosling)

If you remember when we signed Cabaye, he was saying that he's keen to get forward and that this was a deciding factor in his switch, so I would be reluctant to place him as DM. However, Gosling, from what I can tell, should be able to cover that role nicely anyway. Of course, it would be better if he didn't get banned, but I'm with Pardew on this one; we do not want to change his style of play. I'm sure he will have less crunch tackles as he adapts more.

Hell of an exciting player though. hm... maybe I'll get Tiote on the shirt (I know, taking my time. Difficult decision though) Then again, might be worth getting Ameobi, at least he's not going anywhere and it covers two players depending on form!!! haha

I think he'll have learned from his first season, and hopefully we'll have a lot more possession meaning he has to make less tackles!

Not sure he will change his play at all, after all he managed to get booked in friendlies, 2 out of 3 games he played. Not having to cover Nolan though he shouldnt get as many this season IMO.
