Elmo on the bench tonight vs Mali. Tell the truth I'd almost forgotten we had him what with all the excitement these last 2 weeks.

Ah, that's The Congo. This is the democratic republic of Congo. They only have piping hot grape juice. And they'll damn well like it.

I'll be honest, I obviously knew there are two Congos, I couldn't remember which one he played for and couldn't be arsed to check.

    Consider me suitably contrite.

Presumably they're all just scrapping for 90 minutes.

Not sure if you are serious or taking the mick but just in case you are serious.... The World Cup was played in South Africa in summer 2010 (our summer, which of course is winter in South Africa). Also much of Africa lies between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn - meaning that there is relatively little variation in seasonal temperature. Finally - most of Africa is generally cooler than the temperatures likely to be encountered in Qatar the World Cup venue for 2022.

I am serious, Africa is 5,000 miles long, so it's obviously hotter in some parts than others and at different times of the year. But unless you want to exclude the top half of Africa from being hosts and just hold the competition in South Africa every year, it's too hot in many of the places during our summer. As the Qatar World Cup is now planned for December, it will be around 20 degress, so not an issue (it was moved for precisely the reason that the AFCoN isn't played in our summer)..

So that's both Mbokani and Elmo who have qualified for the next stage, so are not going to be back early.

Would be interesting to see if MS can get them to step up a bit though.
