He'll do well there, but I think it's sad end for him. I'd love to know what he was thinking back in the summer. My thoughts are that Mendes has been the issue here.

Saintsweb are saying that his wages aren't even the issue, he's just fallen out with Black and coaching staff. Although it's saintsweb, so take it with a big punch of salt.

£9m would be a decent fee I'd suggest. But I can't see it being that much.

Small pinch of salt. Black is an increasing problem at the club. I do wonder if that Newspaper sting that got Allardyce and featured Black, was breaking now, instead of in September, whether Saints would have stood by him. I suspect they would have parted company. Sadly, I believe that Black took that support from the club to think he's untouchable.

My personal feelings is that he fancied the United move and working with Jose after winning the Euros.

Since it didn't materialise then just think things have got worse including EL stuff and relationship between player/club has gone beyond repair.

Nothing to back that up, just my opinion for what it's worth.

Don't worry, we'll all get to say thank you in a few weeks time when we have WHam at home.

Well, something must have gone horribly wrong for him to want to leave here for West Ham, it cannot always be the players in the wrong.

But we could of had both and then played van Dijke in a more attacking role or as a beastly centre back pairing :D!

Given that none of us were disturbed from our slumber by the team or major transfer deals, I'll pick this up. We were after Todd and it looked as if he'd signed. Lawrie was seriously pissed off. Read the relevant chapter of "Diary of a Season"

Pretty simple why they want to leave. We are a stepping stone club to the players.

You may well be right, but that last sentence is a pretty big leap. Why do you believe that? (Not saying you're wrong, but interested to know why you came to that point).

Presumably Joses dream wasn't to sign for West Ham after winning the Euros. He wanted to play for his compatriot at Man Utd. But then when that didn't happen, why does he then want to leave anyway. There must have been some kind of irrevocable fall out. I do worry that there are bigger problems behind the scenes. I know Bertrand is best buds with Fonte but he doesn't seem to have been very happy this season either.

Because maybe he is too stubborn to put his hands up and apologise to the fans and backtrack? He's wanted to leave since June, it was clear to see from the start of the Summer. Sounds like he hasn't exactly been Captain material behind the scene's according to Le Tiss etc. Just a sad way to go really if all is true.

I tend to side with this point of view, just purely because of human nature, and the fact footballers/celebs on that kind of daft money are prone to this kind of thing. Hence why I just think it's a little sad.
