If it helps, I'm going but with great reluctance. I'm not feeling it at all. Bloody cold out there too. Still, £12. They got that about right I guess.

Staying at home does not make you a bad fan, whatever that is. But witnessing a convincing victory in which one or two youngsters excell might make you feel like a fan who has just been rewarded for his loyalty. Maybe.

I shall not be there tonight. I am weaning myself off football as it has become such a negative influence in my life. I don't watch match of the day anymore, I now only tune into radio four and I dump the sports pages of the newspaper the moment it drops on the mat. In the pub we only talk about politics and religion as these topics are less confrontational than football, and I am limiting myself to a few minutes a day on here hoping that I will soon stop visiting altogether. The final stage of course will be when I don't renew my season ticket. I will then have become a normal person again.

 

We can win this, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't....especially as VVD won't be playing and, I suspect, neither will Forster. Our weakened side should be too good for a weakened Norwich side, so I shall keep my fingers firmly crossed. COYR

We're going to win 4-3.
It'll be like that time back in 2005 when Henri Camara scored a late winner against the Canaries, that was one of my favourite games I've been to, the atmosphere was electric. It lifted us out of the bottom 3 and I really thought we would pull off the 'great escape' once more.

 

Since when was normal fun?

 

Tickets still available, so couldn't fill 3 sides of the ground. Think this is a combination of knowing that the teams will be weakened, fall in interest in FA Cup (at least in early stages), cost of following Saints in other cup games (inc. Europa) and ennui induced by our current style.

 

Don't mention the word "ennui" to the negatives on here, Fran. They'll think Claude has signed some new French wonder-kid to turn the season around, then call for his head because he's not playing him.

I'm dragging myself up off my sick bed to go and cheer the lads on tonight. I see some are calling for "no changes" as Ipswich made 4 or 5, but I suspect it'll be closer to 7 or 8. Hopefully the newcomers will have the hunger to show Claude why they should be considered for the 1st team and we'll thrash Norwich. That'd show those who are upset at our recent showings.
Sadly I'll be opposite my usual seat - last time I was there, we went out of another cup - hope it's not an omen
