"you're getting sacked in the morning" Not ****ing likely. As if Short could pay for that at this point...
I know it sounds bad but I don't really give a ****. I would have if he'd played the kids or if I wasn't as focused on the league due to the skeletal nature of the squad.
Plenty of people saying on other threads that they'd be happy to see Kone leave in order to bring in new players. I think the last couple of results suggest we've missed him and N'Dong. We desperately need to strengthen but I don't think we can afford to lose any of our better players.
This cup-tie has exposed our chronic lack of leadership. It was a no-lose situation in the later stages of the first leg, yet he made no attempt to go for it. Spineless is the only word for it, no good blaming the attendances, they are remarkable given whats served up by this regime.
He'd have been better off just playing the youth team in the first game and avoiding this replay. If the kids had lost 2-0 to a decent Burnley team no-one would have had a go at them, and if they'd managed to pull of a shock win then it would have been a great confidence boost for them. Instead we had to watch the usual suspects stroll through another sh*te performance. As a side note, why does the Echo keep referring to our players as "stars" (apart from Defoe)? If all it took to be a "star" at your job was to turn up, put in minimal effort and perform terribly I'd just rock up at the office and browse porn every day.
Lincoln 1 Ipswich 0 90th minute KO, Poor Mick standing there with the crowd singing the old refrain. YGSITM.
There's still a long way to go on this roller coaster. Look at the current form of Watford, Southampton & Palace
Dave's post match email: "I’m disappointed we’re out of the cup. We’ve gone again with a threadbare team and tried to win, but we’ve found it difficult against Burnley in the previous two games and again tonight. There are positives to take. I thought George Honeyman played well. We played with three at the back and it worked for long spells. George trains with the first team every day and he did well. He’s probably a player who is ready and at an age where he can handle it. We gave away a poor goal to give them their lead and we were looking for an equaliser but we conceded just as poorly for their second. I wanted to do well in the cup, we had a home draw and we were looking forward to it, unfortunately we didn’t perform well enough to progress." Might want to practice defending a bit more then, oh and passing and moving and shooting. Was hoping to win, expecting to lose - just feel a bit resigned to that outcome. At least he brought a couple of forwards on rather than no changes. Onwards and upwards.
No more cup 3&7 idiocy from me .. Positively 3 pts on Saturday KTF - though it's so hard when you feel as dour as Dave looks
