Ehab is English, hence his lack of aggression in the transfer market.

so mbokani came on 77 mins and nothing really happened

congo won 1-0 goal by kage

one of mbokanis team mates got sent off, mbokani got caught offside

it's not the best quality of football..

FIFA need to pull their finger out and move this to the summer like the Euros, World Cups and Copa America. Stop letting them play it in January and ****ing the domestic leagues up.

I think the clubs are entirely to blame if they sign players who they know full well are likely to be going to the AFCON and then find themselves weakened every second January. Particularly if you sign one on a season-long loan <doh>

It's too hot there to play a tournament in the summer.

Don't sign an African player who plays for his country and then complain that he's not available in January. It's entirely predictable and mitigatable.

You mean like how the World Cup doesn't **** up any leagues around the world?

    I've amended your comment accordingly.

To get a work permit, they have to play for their country. Clubs will moan about anything and everything but they only miss 1 month over 2 years. It's hardly massive

I don't think the clubs mind the actual 3/4 weeks or so they're away playing, it's the extra fortnight it takes for them to get a flight back

    There's no problem then.

I find our arrangement with Mbokani rather short-sighted, but it still probably wasn't the worst piece of business we did in the summer.

If his absence is irritating now, imagine how we'd feel if he'd actually scored a goal.

When we signed him he'd retired from international football, he changed his mind.

I was quite surprised to discover that Congo had actually qualified.

Not that I know much* about football in the Congo, mind.
