McQueen has been close this season ( for me anyways). Targett needs to improve and show a big injury doesn't effect him. Vokin is 16 and very very highly rated and in the England 19's already.

 

Why are we so good at producing Left backs specifically!?

 

Yeah I've been impressed with McQueen when he has played, but he still has a way to go to be as consistent as Bertrand.

Targett has more to do than recover from that injury imo. He was decent for his age before but going forward he really looked out of his depth. But these guys do all have time on their side.

If we did sell Bertrand I'd definitely look to the transfer market rather than our academy as I don't think they are quite ready.

 

I would give McQueen a go and depending on Targett maybe buy a young English back up.

 

Mcqueen as first choice for the rest of the season would be suicidal IMO.
Our team is short of natural leaders as it is, without losing Bertrand. I rate McQueen, but I think you're underplaying Bertrand here beefy. He has such a cool head, his positional sense is quality and he is a real leader.

 

We are talking about next season. Bertrand won't be sold this season.

Same, I was just on about how I would rather give one of our academy players ago then buy in again.

 

Bertrand may have learnt from the last time he went and played for an English super power. It didn't work out for him at Chelsea so why would it necessarily work out for him at City? Although he would have more chance of adding to his Champion's League winners medal

 

You mean you hope he would. Some football players would just want the cash. I hope Bertrand stays, not just because he is good, but we need to keep some of our defence for next season.

Well I did say he MAY HAVE, of course I hope he stays. Fantastic player for us! He moved to Southampton from Chelsea which wasn't about money so who knows.

 

There has to be some footballers that just want to play footy right? (Doesn't seem like it a lot of the time).

 

I am most definitely NOT in the know, but just had an interesting chat with someone, whose son works for the Saints accountants.
He was told that Liverpool want Fonte AND £20m, in return for Sakho and Sturridge.
He also claims that Sturridge has been down for talks.

As stated in the first line, I am not ITK, just passing on some gossip. If Sturridge starts, or is in next week's Liverpool squad, for the 2nd leg of the EFL semi, I would discount this as untrue.

 

£30m for Sakho? I would laugh at them.

 

......and Sturridge.

 

I would be willing to take him for a decent price. But then if they want £30m for Sakho.

 

Am I reading it wrong don't they want Fonte & £20m for Sakho AND Sturridge?
