In big games like this, I think Can is crucial. But in games when we are likely to have more possession and expected to attack, maybe not.

He and Gini got through serious leg work today.

Still can't believe how sh!t Wijnaldum's finishing was. Should have finished them off towards the end of the game

Yeah was worried when we started with diamond and he had to keep going wide, United didn't expose that formation well, should have been lost of switches of play to stretch us and tire us out.

He did well to last whole game as he always looks knackered from the first minute!

Just think at the moment, he doesn't offer enough in the ball to make up for his work off it. He's causing himself and the team to do extra defending and leg work by giving the ball away a lot more than needed.

If he can just speed up his passing and keep it simple then would have no complaints.

Can's pass was horrendous. He let the ball come across him, which is fine and then fired it to him of the ground meaning Gini had to bring it down and it got stuck under his foot. Was a terrible shot but It was 2v1.. Can just needed to turn and then draw the defender and roll it into his path gently.

Yep, he seems to have regressed on the ball but he's a young lad so hoping he will improve. He's still capable of some good passes and running with the ball. I still think his best position is as the number 6, so we can utilise his defensive abilities more and less on creative.

I'm hoping we still bring in a Dahoud/Paredes type CM.

Not sure he's mobile enough for it though. When he gets going he has good power, but that quick bit of acceleration, plus in that role, he can't dally on the ball. I know you're not Hendo's biggest fans, but in that role he has a lot more energy (which is perfect for Klopp's midfield) and on the ball, although maybe not the best, he doesn't dwell on it and put us under pressure. He gets the ball, looks up and at least moves the ball on quickly if nothing forward on.

I think Hendo showed today that he is a vital cog in that midfield. Can he be improved on? Certainly... but at the moment he is a key component in our best 3 man midfield of Gini/Hendo/Lallana as they all compliment each other style and bring something different.

Thought can had an excellent game defensively today, everyone has criticised Pogba's performance today whilst mostly ignoring Can's impact on that performance.

PS Still doesn't excuse his poor use of the ball at times.

This is you can only have either Can or Gini alongside someone like Lallana/Coutinho.

Gini and Can are great off the ball but don't offer enough on it.

Been bit disappointed with Gini going forward TBH as thought he would offer us more. Is this down to how he fits in/team tactics etc or is it down to me previously seeing him mainly via MOTD highlights?

Not sure but in some ways I hope it is the former as that can change with time.

He's playing totally diff role for us as he did for Newcastle. Was played wide left or behind front man for them and less defensive responsibility I think

We got a point away. Which is better than being beaten by one of our rivals. The reality of the situation is that we really needed a win and we are further 2 points adrift (7 points) of Chelsea in our quest for the title.

Let's now hope we can start winning against the smaller teams. No reason why not although the high pressing high energy game will not suit playing against a team refusing to attack and open up.

I really thought we were going to win that game. So disappointed in the end.

Our biggest game of the season now is Soton the Wednesday next. Then next, in importance, is Wednesday's replay (****, we could have done without that). Play Studge from the start on Wednesday too.

The strength and consistency of the top 6 is quite amazing. So is the weakness of the others when faced with such teams. We can't expect the same thing to happen next season. When the opportunity presents we've got to seize it.

Yeah for me top 4 was a hope and best case scenario at start of season, now anything less would be a massive disappointment.
